"Dennie" Burdette on December 26, 1951 at Kenna, Jackson Co., West Virginia.^2,3,4 May Alice Elmore died on December 18, 1952 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 17.^3,4 She Mrs. Mary Alice Elmore Burdette, 17, of Sissonvllle, died last night in a local hospital 24 hours after giving birth to her first child, a daughter. Her death was attributed to complications which arose during childbirth. The unnamed daughter was reported this morning to be in excellent condition. Mrs. Burdette, the wife of Denny Burdette, was born in Kanawha county Feb. 23, 1935. She had been a lifelong resident of the county. She attended Sissonville high school. Surviving besides her husband and two-day-old daughter are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Elmore of Quick; five brothers, Herbert, John, James, Andrew and Willard Burdette, all at home; two sisters, Jo Ann and Arbutis Burdette, both at home; and her grandmother, Mrs. Molly Cantor of Martin's Branch. The body is at Long, Johhson and Fisher mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Advent Christian church at Grapevine near Sissonville with the Rev. Pat Berry officiating. Burial will be in Beane cemetery at Sissonville. on December 19, 1952.⁴

Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Mrs. Elmore had lived in Pooler for thirty years. She was a member of the Westside Christian Church and was employed with Derst Bakery where she had worked for the past twenty-eight years. Mrs. Elmore was preceded in death by her husband, John Elmore. She was a certified nursing assistant at Beverly Health Care in Glasgow for 18 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Robert E. Pritt; children, Robert Pritt and his wife, Lisa, of Lizemores, Robin Waugh of Hurricane, Roberta Atha of Hurricane, Rebecca Wheeler and her husband, George, of Deep Water, Renea Muldrew of Deep Water and Rex Pritt and his wife, Marie, of Lee Branch; brothers, James E. Elmore of Ravenswood, Andy Elmore of Goldtown and Willard Elmore of Walton; sister, JoAnn Barnes of Rock Hill, S.C; a niece raised as a sister, Mary Patton of Sissonville; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 17, at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with the Rev. Claude R. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. on April 17, 2009.⁴

He was a retired coal miner and carpenter. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Lawrence of Springfield, Ohio, and Lois Talbert of York, S.C. two sons, Linville McKinney of Leet and Chuckie McKinney of Proctorville, Ohio one sister, Erma Johnson of Chapmanville and two brothers, Jesse McKinney and Roy McKinney, both of Chapmanville. Funeral 11 a.m. Friday at Evans Funeral Home, Chapmanville burial in McKinney Cemetery, Chapmanville. on May 22, 2002.³
