He was an area resident for the past 30 years. Alan was an independent truck driver, leased to Mercer Transportation, with a 5 year safety driving record. He is survived by his wife Cindy M. Nowlin; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Martha Nowlin of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Gary Nowlin of Alamogordo New Mexico; sister and brother-in-law, Joann and J.D. Sprouse of Vinton; also surviving is his father and mother, Donald M. and Virginia C. Nowlin; his mother-in-law, June R. Morris of Roanoke; his grandmother, Ethel Roehfel; and three neices and one nephew. He was a loving, caring, husband, son, and friend and will be greatly missed. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. on August 20, 1997.⁶
