Robert was a member of Christiansburg Baptist Church, the Gideons, Masons, and served in the Army during WWII. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.,Thursday, August 28, 2014, just preceding the Memorial Service at 7 p.m. at Christiansburg Baptist Church, 2895 Roanoke St., Christiansburg. Services will be conducted by Pastor Shaun Couch of Christiansburg Baptist Church; Brother Jack Parrish, of Foley, AL; and Gideon Brother Rador Vaden of Blacksburg, Va. The Grave site service will be attended by the family. on August 27, 2014.4

     Althea Ann Scott was buried at Sunset Cemetery, North Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.1 She was born on October 2, 1927 at Basham, Montgomery Co., Virginia.1,2 As of June 29, 1945,her married name was Swain.3 She married Robert Alfonso Swain, son of Edgar Leonard Swain and Melissa Alice/Ann James, on June 29, 1945 at Riner, Montgomery Co., Virginia.3 Althea Ann Scott and Robert Alfonso Swain were divorced on October 21, 1975 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.2 Althea Ann Scott died on March 5, 2012 at Virginia at age 84.1 She Althea Ann Scott Bailey, 84, of Radford, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012. Born in Basham, Va., on October 2, 1927, she was raised in Pilot, Va., and graduated with honors from Auburn High School in Riner. Later in life she attended Radford University (RU), graduating with her master's degree in History and English. She retired as an archivist with McConnell Library at RU and spent 30+ years as the Director of the Wilderness Road Regional Museum in Newbern, Va. She was preceded in death by her son, Brad Swain; husband, Blonnie Bailey; and brothers, Arnold Ray Scott and Wallace Scott. Survivors include her daughter, Robin Smith (Mike); stepsons, Larry Bailey (Paulette), and Buddy Bailey (Lois); sister-in-law, Barbara Scott; grandchildren, Kandice Perdue, Michael and Robert Swain, and Sarah Smith; plus many other special family members; her very special friend, Karl Pedersen; and many, many friends. Special thanks to the nurses and aides with Southern Care Hospice and to the nursing staff of Heritage Hall for their wonderful care during her stay. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 9, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery at a later date. on March 7, 2012.1
