He was a faithful member of the Maple View Church of Christ and was active in the DMA's. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 38 years of service. He was a member of the UTU Railroad Union and also the Railroad Retirees Club, Bluefield, W.Va. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Alice Wright Thomas of the home; daughter, Shelle Thompson and husband Kent of Lynchburg, Va; special grandson, Johnathan K. Thompson, Jr; brother, Donald C. Thomas, Jr. of Durhing; mother in law, Doris Wright Fritz, also of Durhing. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the Maple View Church of Christ with Ministers Tony Reed, Buddy Goins, and Gregg Breisch officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the church. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wright Family Cemetery on Wright's Mountain. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Bob Culler and Don Cooper will serve as honorary pallbearers. on November 29, 2009.1
