Rench was born on September 4, 1937 at Indiana.¹ She died on May 31, 1980 at Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, at age 42.^1,2 She Judie Y. Burkhardt, 42, 1505 E. 23rd St., the wife of Allen D. Burkhardt, died Saturday morning at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. Mrs. Burkhardt was born in Muncie, attended Washington and Blaine elementary schools, and Wilson Junior High School, and graduated in 1955 from Central High School. She spent her entire life in the Muncie community. She attended the Full Gospel Temple and was a member of Eagles Auxiliary, Muncie Aerie 231, and Women's Democrat Club. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, John F. Main, Selma, and Allen Burkhardt Jr., at home; one daughter, Tara Burkhardt, also at home; her mother, Mrs. Edith (Peg) Purvis, Muncie; one sister, Mrs. Ronnie (Viretta) Murphy, Parker City; two grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Mecks Mortuary with Rev. James Helton, pastor of Full Gospel Temple, officiating. Interment will follow in Beech Grove. on June 1, 1980.²

     Lorinda Jeanette Smith was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1502 West Central Avenue, Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio.⁵ Her married name was Heitman.⁶ She married William John Heitman.⁶ Lorinda Jeanette Smith was born on April 5, 1895 at Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana.^1,5 As of September 8, 1923,her married name was Freeman.¹ She married Sereno Samuel "Reno" Freeman on September 8, 1923 at Lucas Co., Indiana.^1,7 As of September 16, 1951,her married name was McLain.¹ Lorinda Jeanette Smith married Douglas Robert McLain on September 16, 1951 at Lucas Co., Ohio.¹ Lorinda Jeanette Smith died on October 3, 1984 at Sylvania, Lucas Co., Ohio, at age 89.^8,6 She Mrs. Jeanette Freeman Heitman, 89, of Harroun Road, Sylvania, died Wednesday in Flower Hospital. She was in charge of the mailing service eight years for Maumee Valley Historical Society, retiring in 1965. Prior to that, she worked 14 years for the Internal Revenue Service, Toledo office. Mrs. Heitman was the widow of William J. Heitman. Surviving are her sons, Robert and James Freeman and stepson, Dr. Robert McLain. on October 5, 1984.⁶

     Conner Copple Smith was buried at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Lucas Co., Ohio.¹⁰ He was born on July 25, 1899 at Pittsburg, Crawford Co., Kansas.^1,3,5,6,7 He married Helen I. Baither on December 18, 1923 at Lucas Co., Ohio.⁵ Conner Copple Smith and Helen I. Baither were divorced before April, 1930.⁹ Conner Copple Smith married Alice Jones on February 4, 1946 at Indiana.³ Conner Copple Smith died on March 17, 1958 at Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio, at age 58.⁴

     Sereno Samuel "Reno" Freeman was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1502 West Central Avenue, Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio.^4,3 He was born on June 7, 1876 at Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio.² He married Lorinda Jeanette Smith, daughter of William Garett/Garret Smith and Jane L. "Jennie" Copple, on September 8, 1923 at Lucas Co., Indiana.^2,3 Sereno Samuel "Reno" Freeman died on January 20, 1949 at Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio, at age 72.³ He Reno S. Freeman, 2736 Sherbrooke Rd., former Toledo jeweler and son of the late J. J. Freeman, died today in St. Vincent's Hospital after a long illness. He was 72. Mr. Freeman was treasurer of the old J. J. Freeman Jewelry Store, 107 Summit St., when it was incorperated in 1906. He was a graduate of the Perkskill N. Y. Military Academy and the Chicago Opthaline College. Mr. Freeman was in charge of the store's optical department until 1922 when he went into the jewelry department. The store was later merged into the Broer-Freeman Co. now at Jefferson Ave. and Erie St. In 1933 he helped organize and was president of the Freeman-Schutte Motor Sales Co. Active in golf and yachting circles, Mr. Freeman was widely known also for his work in music. He organized the Shrine Chantere of Zenobia Shrine; at one time directed the choir at First Baptist Church where he was a member, and was a member of the Orpheus Club. At one time he was active in the Masons, he was a lifelong resident of Toledo. His wife, Jeanette Smith Freeman, and sons, Robert S. and James J. survive. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. on January 20, 1949.³

     Robert Smith Freeman was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1502 West Central Avenue, Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio.⁴ He was born on July 27, 1924 at Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio.^3,6,4 He married Cora Ellen Williams circa 1948.⁷ Robert Smith Freeman died on December 30, 2017 at Sylvania, Lucas Co., Ohio, at age 93.^6,4 He Robert Smith Freeman, age 93, of Toledo passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. He was born July 27, 1924 in Toledo to Sereno Samuel and Jeanette (Smith) Freeman. Robert and his family moved to Florida in the 1930’s, and he graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School, Miami, in 1942. In September of 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army Signal Corps Reserve. In May 1943 he was called to active service and accepted to the United States Army Air Corps. In December 1943, the government needed to transfer Robert to the Third Battalion, 309th Infantry Regiment, 78th Division where he attended radio code school. He then headed to the European Theatre of Operations. He spent the war in Central Europe and fought in the Ardennes, the Siegfried Line, the Battle of the Bulge, the Ruhr pocket, the Schwammenauel Dam, and the March to the Rhine, crossing the Ludendorf Bridge at Remagen. He earned three Battle Stars and a Combat Infantry badge. He was honorably discharged in March of 1946. Robert graduated from the University of Toledo with Baccalaureate and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering in 1951 and 1963 respectively. He was employed by the Toledo Scale Company, Baker Brothers, Inc., the Haughton Elevator Company, and Pan American World Airways. Most of his career was spent working with the Strong Electric Company on City Park Avenue, where he served as a Senior Project Engineer and later as Director of Engineering. He completed his career at the Kneisley Electric Company. Robert’s work focused on the design and development of high intensity electro-optical lighting systems—the xenon arc, for motion picture projection lamphouses, and elliptical reflectors for lamphouses. He received three US patents and authored and presented several papers to technical societies. Robert was a member of the Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post 587, American Electroplaters Society, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, and the Illuminating Engineering Society. Robert loved building things, and was an excellent woodworker and electrician. Most of all, he loved his family. He was totally devoted to Cora, his wife of 69 years, who passed last September. Surviving are daughters, Mary (Peter) Vonu and Barbara (Richard) Drabik; grandchildren, Marshal, Mason, Chelsea, Peter, Trevor, and Brant; great-grandchildren, Blake and Brynn; Robert was preceded in death by his brother, James Jay Freeman. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. on January 4, 2018.⁴

Freeman, 82, Died October 23, 2008 at her home. She was born in Morenci, Michigan and had lived in Port Saint Lucie since February 2008. She had been a world traveler visiting many foreign nations, started a material business in the Bahamas, and had lived in Ohio, Illinois, Miami, Nassau, Saudi Arabia, Tennessee, Turkey, N. Carolina, and Carol Springs. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, James J. Freeman; son, Mark Freeman of Portland Oregon: daughter, Joan Freeman of Port Saint Lucie: one grandson; one great-grand son; and two great-grand daughters. on October 26, 2008.³

"Jennie" Copple, on September 16, 1951 at Lucas Co., Ohio.² Douglas Robert McLain died on October 18, 1963 at Maumee, Lucas Co., Ohio, at age 73.^1,3 He Douglas R. McLaine, 73, of 632 Midfield Dr., a retired Toledo chiropractor, died Friday in Maumee Valley hospital shortly after suffering a heart attack in his home. A resident of Toledo 60 years, Mr. McLain was born in Grand Rapids Michigan. Before retiring 4 years ago he maintained offices in the North Haven Sylvania Avenue area 40 years. He was a veteran a World War I, a member of the Lucas County Burial Corps and the Briar and Java Club. He was past commander and past chaplain of the Baker-Stengal Post, American Legion, and former secretary-treasurer of the Ohio chiropractors Society. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette; son, Dr. Robert E., and daughter Marilyn R. McLain, of Toledo. Burial in Toledo Memorial Park. on October 20, 1963.³

     Cora Ellen Williams was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1502 West Central Avenue, Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio.¹ She was born on July 11, 1926 at Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio.¹ As of circa 1948,her married name was Freeman.¹ She married Robert Smith Freeman, son of Sereno Samuel "Reno" Freeman and Lorinda Jeanette Smith, circa 1948.¹ Cora Ellen Williams died on September 13, 2017 at Sylvania, Lucas Co., Ohio, at age 91.¹ She Cora Ellen Freeman, age 91 of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. She was born July 11, 1926 in Toledo to Erie Cornelius and Cleo (Utterback) Williams. She was a 1944 graduate of Scott High School and a 1947 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing. She was employed at the former Parkview Hospital then worked as a registered nurse for the family practice of Dr. Kane in Temperance, Michigan. Later in life she was a guest speaker to nursing students at Lourdes College and to Adoptees' Liberty Movement Association (ALMA) groups. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening but most of all being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving is her husband of 69 years, Robert; daughters Mary (Peter) Vonu and Barbara (Richard) Drabik; grandchildren Marshal, Mason, Chelsea, Peter, Trevor and Brant; great-grandchildren Blake and Brynn; and brother James. C. Williams. Cora was preceded in death by her brother Richard E. Williams. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. on September 14, 2017.¹
