F. Riley was received Sunday. She passed away at the home of her son, A. W. Riley Sunday morning at 5 o'clock, March 30, 1941. Her death was a shock to those who were in the home with her, as she had retired about 10 o'clock feeling well as usual, but she had not been entirely well after having the flu in January. The cause of her death was her heart. She called to her daughter, Mrs. J. C. Carlile, who was spending the night with her. She told her she was sick, they all rushed to her side and did all loving hands could, do she passed away at 5 o'clock being sick a little over an hour. A doctor was called but she passed away before he could reach her. The body was carried to Killeen by the Chandor Young Ambulance and kept in the funeral home there. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church in Killeen by Rev. H. B. Lloyd. The remains were carried to the Maxdale cemetery where she was laid to rest, a dear mother and devoted grandmother. All her children were there. Mrs. Mae E. Riley (nee Miss Mae Swinney) was born in Liberty County March 12, 1864. She was married in Bell County February 3, 1884 to M. F. Riley who passed away in March 1917. To this Union 8 children were born, two dying an infancy. Those living are as follows: W. W. Riley, Wichita Falls, Texas; Mrs. J. L. Story of Killeen; Mrs. J. C. Carlile of Bertram; P. J. Riley of Burnett; B. L. Riley of Goose Creek; A. W. Riley of Lake Victor. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. L. N. Sanford of Bourne, 6 brothers, John Swinney of Austin, A. W. Swinney and Neut Swinney of Fort Worth, C. M. Swinney of Lometa, Rans and Sid Swinney of Henrietta Oklahoma. One sister, Mrs. Addie Barber, passed away March 24, 1941 in Oklahoma. Pallbearers were two grandsons and four nephews; Bill Davenport, Clarence Brooks, Henry Lee, Doyle Riley and Henry Ashabranner. Flowergirls were granddaughters; Mrs. Bob Winnett, Mrs. Clarence Brooks, Anna Bird and Billie Dixon, Jo Ann and Parlee Story and Mrs. Emmett Clark. Deceased was a quiet unassuming Christian lady loved and honored by all who knew her. She won many friends wherever she went whose hearts have been made sad by her death, but has lived a life where she has a home for eternity. on April 17, 1941.1

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Clark; parents, Jasper and Amanda Story; sisters, Merle Brown, JoAnn Byrd, Sarah Sherman; brother, Marvin Story; and grandson-in-law, John Miller. She is survived by daughters, Joyce Frank of Rosenberg, Sue Schultz and husband, Kirby G., of Rosenberg; sister, Sue Lang of Temple; grandchildren, Kimberly Warwick and husband, Todd, of Katy, Deanna Miller of Richmond, and Steven Schultz of Rosenberg; great-grandchildren, Sarah Bockholt of Katy, Christopher Redding of Richmond, Cole Warwick of Katy, and Anna Miller of Richmond; along with numerous other loving family and many friends. Brooks died Wednesday at a Temple hospital. Burial will be in the Killeen City Cemetery. He was born Jan. 23, 1896, in Bardwell, and had lived in the Killeen area most of his life. He graduated from Midlothian High School and attended business school in Dallas. Brooks served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He had been a postal clerk in the Killeen post office and had farmed west of Killeen for 20 years before he retired. He was a member of the Methodist Church all his life and a member of the First United methodist Church in Killeen since 1919. Brooks was also a member of American Legion Post 223 in Killeen and a charter member of the Killeen chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sue Brooks of Temple, and a sister, Mrs. Trudy Knuth of San Antonio. on June 26, 1986.3
