Carl Holz Sax was buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Blvd., Denver, Denver Co., Colorado.3 He Carl Holtz Sax, passed away peacefully at his home on June 14, 2018. Born October 7, 1968 to Rosemarie (Hrvatin) and George Sax, Carl was raised in the Denver area and attended Green Mountain High School. Carl entered the US Army on October 11, 1988. He was stationed at Fort Drum, NY and was in the 10th Mountain Division. He served in many different theaters including Somalia, Haiti, Panama and Desert Storm and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Carl's life and direction was defined by his military service. He considered it an honor to have served his country. The strong bond he felt with his fellow soldiers helped him through some of the most difficult times of his life. As a kennel owner and professional dog trainer, animals always came first. Carl was fiercely dedicated to his four-footed charges. In training dogs, he often said that the most valuable tool was six inches of duct tape for all the humans. He was an expert gundog trainer and NSTRA competitor with innumerable awards in field trial competitions. It was 2004 when during League Trap Shooting at Golden Gun Club that Carl met Janis Rahn and on June 12, 2005 they were married at Kiowa Creek Gun Club. Carl is survived by his wife, Janis; his mother, Rosemarie Kelley; his sister, Sonja Sax; a step-brother, Jeffrey; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his father, George; his step-brothers Kenny, Larry, and Arnie; and his step-father Dr. Robert Kelley. There will be a memorial service for Carl on Monday, June 25 at 11:00 am at Bullock Funeral Home at 1375 E. Hampden Avenue, Englewood followed by military honors at Fort Logan at 12:30pm.3 He was born on October 7, 1968 at Colorado.3 He married Janis Rahn, daughter of Kenneth W. Betty Jane Wells Betty Jane Rice, age 66, died on August 19, 2012, peacefully at Treasure Coast Hospice, Harper House after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Bishop, Virginia, she had been a resident of Stuart for 46 years. She was well known around town as "Bicycle Betty" because of her daily rides on her pink and white bike. An avid gardener, Betty spent countless hours in her yard, a hobby that brought her pleasure, satisfaction, and pride. Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 18 years, John Rice, Son and daughter- in-law Samantha & Richard Shawver Sr., Brother & sister- in-law Nancy & Carl Leroy Wells, two grandchildren Megan & Richard Shawver Jr., two step-grandchildren Dakota & Talulah and three nephews Lee, Jeff and Brian Wells. After retiring from the State of Florida, Betty dedicated herself to her husband, son and grandchildren with whom she shared a special bond. She will be dearly missed by all.4 Her married name was Shawver.5 She married Clarence F. Shawver III.5 Betty Jane Wells was born on December 24, 1945 at Bishop, Tazewell Co., Virginia.2,4 She and Clarence F. Shawver III were divorced on October 7, 1975 at Martin Co., Florida.6 As of February 14, 1980,her married name was Reeves.1 Betty Jane Wells married James E. Reeves on February 14, 1980 at Wakulla Springs, Wakulla Co., Florida.1 As of circa 1994,her married name was Rice.4 Betty Jane Wells married John Daniel Rice on June 28, 1996 at St. Lucie Co., Florida.4,7 Betty Jane Wells died on August 19, 2012 at Stuart, Martin Co., Florida, at age 66.4
