He enjoyed a large friendship here where he spent a large part of his life. He was born in Pittsylvania county, November 5, 1860, a son of Logan Owen and Mrs. Senthly Lee Owen. He spent his entire life in the county. His wife died in July, 1938. Mr. Owen is survived by the following children: J. B. Owen, W. D. Owen, J. H. Owen, and I. S. Owen, Chatham; C. C. Owen, Danville; Mrs. Lucy Farmer and Mrs. Toy Cocks of Gretna. on March 10, 1939.3

Farmer, 59-year-old farmer of near Gretna, died at Duke Hospital, Durham, N.C., this morning at 6:15 o'clock. He had been ill since Sunday and suffered a paralytic stroke on Monday night. The deceased was born near Gretna, a son of the late Benjamin and Mattie Farmer. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Lucy Farmer, two daughters, Mrs. Nelson Johnson of Gretna, and Mrs. Howard Yeatts Chatham; one son, Oliver T. Farmer of near Gretna; and five grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Curtis Bennett of Gretna and Mrs. Edmond Davis of Hurt and three brothers, R. B. and H. H. Farmer of Gretna and R. I Farmer of Hurt. Interment will be made in the family cemetery. on March 16, 1944.3 He died on March 16, 1944 at Durham, Durham Co., North Carolina, at age 58.2,3
