He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star twice, Purple Heart and Army Commendation medals, In addition to 11 other service medals during his varied service in the Infantry, the Army General Staff and the Adiutant General's Corps. He is survived by two daughters; Mrs. Ann H. Martin of Evington, Va., and Mrs. Gloria (Jean) H. Lambert of Harwood, Md; a stepson, Claude W. Steppe of Indialantic, Fla; four sisters, Mrs. C.W. (Mayme) Clark, Mrs. E.R. (Evelyn) Wood and Mrs. M.W. (Kathleen) Clark, all of Lynchburg, Va., and Grace Puckett of Richmond, Va; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Interment will be Thursday in Arlington National Cemetery. on April 27, 1992.7

He was the loving husband of the late Phyllis Dolores Hodges. Born on September 28, 1937, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Percy Greenwood Hodges and the late Mary Clark Hodges. Marvin worked for Limitorque for 35 years and then went to work for TPS. He was an avid church member of Timberlake Baptist Church, where he was active in the choir and served in many other areas of the church. Marvin also enjoyed taking pictures and was quite the jokester. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Hodges; and brother, George H. "Jimmy" Hodges. Marvin is survived by his grandchildren, Michael Hodges, Stephen Hodges, and Christin Green and husband, Jeremiah; two great-grandchildren, Timothy Robert Green and Harry Ezekiel Green; sister-in-law, Thanna Elliott; uncle, Walter Clark; special caregivers and family, Karen and Oscar May and their daughter, Katie May, Sharen Doss, and Shaina Doss; and numerous other family members and friends.
