     Dewey Elmo Bryant was buried at Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.3,4 He Dewey Elmo Bryant, 84, formerly of Chatham, passed into his eternal rest on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Kenton Point Care Center in Maysville, Kentucky, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born in Chatham, VA, on July 24, 1929, to Benjamin Dewey Bryant and Naomi Shields Bryant. Elmo loved The Lord Jesus Christ and loved reading His Word, having served churches in the past as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member at New Hope Christian Church. He was valedictorian of the Class of 1947 of Chatham High School and worked for the old Tribune newspaper before entering military service. He served in the US Army's 279th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division (the Thunderbirds). He served for 21 months during the Korean Conflict: 8 months in Korea, with 6 months on the front line. For his service he was awarded the Occupational Medal (Japan); the United Nations Service Medal; the Combat Infantry Badge and Korean Service Medal. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Chatham for nearly 32 years. Aside from his faith and family, Elmo enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing with his many friends. He carded 5 hole-in-ones at the Cedars Country Club. He also enjoyed a good laugh and was known for his dry wit and famous story-telling. Mr. Bryant is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christine Motley Bryant; one daughter, Debra B. Stephenson and husband Mike, of Maysville; a granddaughter, Aimee Stephenson of Lexington, KY; two brothers, Randolph (Nancy) Bryant of Gretna, and Alvin (Betty) Bryant of Lynchburg; a sister-in-law, Marie M. Mustain of Danville; one niece; and one nephew. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother; and by his son, Jeffrey Dane Bryant. Burial with Military Honors will be at Hillcrest Burial Park, in Chatham.3 He was born on July 24, 1929 at Chatham, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.3,4 He married Christine Harlowe Motley on January 31, 1953 at Gretna, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia.2,3,4,9 Dewey Elmo Bryant died on September 5, 2013 at Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky, at age 84.3,4

     Irving Randolph Bryant Irvin Randolph Bryant, age 86 of Gretna died Monday, July 9, 2018 at his residence. Born May 20, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Benjamin Dewey Bryant and Naomi Shields Bryant. He was also predeceased by a brother, Dewey Elmo Bryant; an infant brother, Kenneth Allen Bryant; and by his loving dog, Carly. Mr. Bryant attended and enjoyed going to West End Church of Christ. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from Klopman. Mr. Bryant enjoyed playing and watching softball games, doing crossword puzzles and he was a big New York Yankees and Washington Redskins fan. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Worley Bryant of the residence; one daughter, Angie Pickral and husband, Victor of Gretna; one brother, Alvin S. Bryant and wife, Betty of Lynchburg; two step-grandchildren, Justin Pickral and wife, Kathy and Travis Pickral; two step-great-grandchildren, Luna Pickral and Harrison Pickral; and his devoted care giver, Wanda Worley. He was a thirty-third degree Mason, a member and Past Master of Pittsylvania Lodge No. 24 A.F. & A.M., Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 38th Masonic District, Past High Priest of the Chatham Royal Arch Chapter No. 56, Past District Deputy Grand High Priest of the 7th Capitular District, member of the Euclid Royal Arch Chapter No. 15, member of the Danville Scottish Rite Bodies, member and Past Sovereign Master of Dan River Council No. 107 Allied Masonic Degrees, member and Past Patron of the Morgan-Johnson Chapter No. 44 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a World War II veteran and was honorably discharged after the war. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 325, and a member of the board of directors of Oak Grove Residential Care, Inc. He retired from Grubb Auto Parts and was a devoted husband, uncle, brother and friend. He is survived by his sister, Betty Osborne and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter Ann Carol Bryant; and by his brothers, Monsey Bryant, Gerald Bryant, and Kyle Bryant. Funeral services will be conducted at Sheva Church of Christ on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 2 pm with Ministers Ron Voss, Larry Owen, and Curtis English officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Sheva Church of Christ Cemetery. The family would like to say a special thanks to Betty Sue Pruitt who made sure he got his mail and paper every day. Also, a special thanks to the staff at Chatham Health and Rehab, especially Lori Watson, for the wonderful care he received. on June 2, 2017.4

She was born on July 23, 1937, in Pittsylvania County, and was the daughter of the late James Godrey Heath and the late Nannie Eanes Kendrick. She was married to Coleman W. Bryant, Jr. who survives. Mrs. Bryant was a 1955 honor graduate of Callands High School and retired from Thompson Insurance Services. She was a member of Sheva Church of Christ where she was a former pianist and former member of the choir. She was a member and past Matron of Morgan-Johnson Chapter No. 44, order of the Eastern Star. She served the Grand Chapter of Virginia as a Grand Representative of Florida in 1984-1985. In addition to her husband of the residence, she is survived by one brother, Billy W. Heath and his wife, Linda of Asheboro, N.C., and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Ann Carol Bryant. Funeral services will be conducted at Sheva Church of Christ on Tuesday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m. with the Ministers Terry W. Schultz, and Larry L. Owen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. on December 13, 2010.3
