     Velva Oreda Paxton Velva Oreda Paxton Summerfield, 86, of Spencer, West Virginia, devoted wife for 59 years to Hubert Willis Summerfield, went home to be with the Lord, November 16, 2013. She was born April 28, 1927. She was cared for through an extended illness by her loving husband, Hubert for several years and later by the angels among the staff at Miletree, where she received excellent care. Mrs. Summerfield was preceded in death by her parents, Albert James Paxton and Abbie Hester Reynolds Paxton; two brothers, W. Dee Paxton of Corpus Christi TX and John Paxton of Left Hand WV; a sister, Maxine Crihfield of Evans WV; a grandson, Lee Michael Summerfield of Spencer. In addition to her husband, Hubert, whom she married March 13, 1954, survivors include a sister, Doris Lemaster; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Debra of Ripley WV, Larry "Sammy" and Cheryl of Spencer, Steve and Jeanne of Abingdon VA; eight grandchildren, David, Jason, Emily, Callie, Stevie, Jordan, Chad and Alex; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Velva loved to sew, quilt and cook in addition to taking care of and enjoying her family and many friends. She was a former employee of Kellwood and a homemaker. She was a long time member of the Boggs Fork Community Church. Velva was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. He was born April 26, 1929, at Clio, Roane County, a son of the late Elias and Emma Justice Summerfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velva Oreda Paxton Summerfield on November 16, 2013; one grandson, Lee Michael Summerfield; two brothers, Ray and Eugene Summerfield. Mr. Summerfield was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a retired employee of Ravenswood Aluminum and a member of the United Steel Workers of America, Local 5668, Ravenswood. Hubert was a Christian who attended the Boggs Fork Community Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Debra of Ripley, Larry and Cheryl of Spencer, Steve and Jeane of Abingdon, VA; three brothers, Bobby Summerfield of Cleveland, OH, Conard Summerfield of Nitro and Jackie Summerfield also of Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Nella Faye Parker of Clio and Geneva Elmore of Cleveland, OH; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 21 immediately after the funeral service. He was a former Boy Scout leader, enjoyed rabbit hunting and gardening, and attended Salt Hill Church. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Maxine D. Paxton Crihfield; sons, Harold E. Crihfield Jr. and Randy L. Crihfield, both of Evans; daughter, Joyce Waskey of Sandyville; brothers, Elton Crihfield of Manassas, Va., Carrol Crihfield of Big Chimney and Lakin Crihfield of Clio; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren. He was a Welder, a steelworker and a former miner. Surviving him are his wife, Lois G. (Paxton) Childers, a daughter, April Lynn Childers, of, Left Hand, a son, Aaron Lee Childers, of Clendenin, his Mother, McClelland Jackson Childers, of Grandridge, Florida, brother Lonnie Childers, of Scranton, Pennsylvania, sisters, Victoria Brown of Wildwood, Florida, Theresa "Sissy" O'Berry of Cleveland, Alabama and three grandchildren. Burial in Clover Cemetery. on May 4, 2000.²
