He was a retired superintendent for Charleston Construction in St. Albans. Mr. Keffer was a member of the Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle in Oak Hill. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Surviving: wife, Betty Jean Lewis Keffer; sons, John Curtis Keffer Jr. and wife, Tina Martin-Keffer, and James Thomas Keffer, all of Oak Hill; brothers, Lloyd Keffer, Davie Keffer and Burl Keffer, all of Coal City, and Roy Keffer of Wakeman, Ohio; sisters, Fannie Hensley of Chesterland, Ohio, Zelda Wills of Sophia and Ruth Bolen of Coal City; grandchildren, Joshua Keffer, Justin Keffer, Christopher Keffer and Jackson Keffer; stepgrandchildren, Tristan Garten, Tiffany Robinson and Alex Garten; and a stepgreat-grandson, Broc Robinson. Entombment was at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post No. 3110 of Oak Hill. on December 10, 2008.⁴
