Born May 30, 1961, in Nassawadox, he was the eldest son of L. Foston Chandler Jr. of Onancock, and the late Ida "Jane" Duer Chandler. Foston and his family owned and operated Chandler’s Furniture store, a three generation business, for over fifty years. He was educated in the Accomack County public schools, having graduated from Onancock High School. He was a member of the Onancock High School State Championship Blue Devils Football team. Foston went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of William and Mary, and a double-masters in Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University. Foston was employed by Intrepid USA, and previously by Shore Rehab, as a physical therapist, comforting many and gently touching the lives of his patients and co-workers as he quietly went about his work. He was a member of the Onancock Baptist Church, former member of Market Street United Methodist Church, and the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs. He played the tuba for the Accomack County Community Band, an organization to which he devoted much time and greatly enjoyed. Foston was known to all of his high school classmates as “Teddy Bear”because of his warm heart and cuddly size. He will be long remembered for his kindness and sincerity to others. His radiant smile will forever leave a lasting impression in the lives of those who knew him. While saddened by his early departure from this world, we rejoice in the satisfaction of knowing he is at peace and lives eternally with the Lord Jesus Christ. Foston is survived by his wife, Teresa Mowry Chandler; his son, Foston IV, 25, of Williamsburg; his daughter, Kaylyn, 21, of Winchester; and his son, Daniel, 8, of Onancock; his brother,John, and his wife, Clara, of Melfa; his sister, Ruth Anne Dize and her husband, Smitty, of Onancock; and four nephews, Evan and Seth Dize, Tyler and Taylor Chandler. on December 29, 2012.2
