She was a member of the First Christian Church, the C. C. Snidow Sunday School Class and Order of Eastern Star in Princeton. She had lived in Princeton for the past 18 years, moving from Wilcox. She was born Dec. 3, 1877, at Tazewell, Va., a daughter of the late Hanceford and Florence McMullins Ashworth. Surviving are her husband, Moscow McGhee; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Samples, Toledo, Ohio and Mrs. Marie Haley, Lynchburg, Va; a brother, Harvey Ashworth, Winter Haven, Fla; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Bluefield, Va. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Order of Eastern Star. Pallbearers will be Conley White, Tom Rudy, Everet White, Richy Hudson, John Munsey and J. M. Draper. on June 24, 1962.¹

On October 22, 2020 Christine went to her heavenly home. Succumbed to her two year battle of NET’s lung cancer at Cleveland Clinic of Vero Beach, FL. She is preceded in death by a daughter Hannah, also, her father WM.O. McGhee Jr., of VA. Her mother-in-law Carol Davis Cole of FL. Paternal grandparents Wm. O. And Mattie Wade McGhee Sr. Maternal grandparents John and Ruth Allen – Arnette. All of VA. Step grandparents Clyde and Nella Lucas Bennett of W.VA.
Christine, a native of Virginia was a 15 year resident of Vero Beach, FL. Where she shared a home with her husband of 26 years, Don E. and daughter Catlyn B. Cole. Also survived by, her mother and dad, Cynthia A. and Rexford G. Bennett of Sebastian, FL. Brother, Scott McGhee of Chesterfield, VA. Nephews Austin and Hunter. Niece Lily and nephew Luke McGhee (Ashley). Father-in-law Jon Cole, brother-in-law Ron and (Terry) all of Kissimmee, FL. Several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Numerous friends. Special mention to Sandi, Marge, Cousin Kathy and Cheri. A member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Prince George, VA. Christine lived, loved by the Lords words. She fed the hungry, clothed the naked, sheltered the homeless, loved the unlovable and a mother to the motherless. This was very evident by her community service works from Virginia to Florida. Sebastian, Vero Beach, Fellsmere, and Brevard County. Her name was synonymous with charitable work. Winning many “Earthly Awards”, as she would say, "For doing what is right?” She was humbled by it all. Christine was a 1983 graduate of Hopewell High School. Earned a Bachelor’s degree in art at VCU. Held a degree in Med/DDS of VA. Held Masters Computer Science. (IT Guru) Was the family support leader for the 54th QTR.Master.Co. At Ft. Lee, VA. Children’s outreach leader for Central VA. Safety Council. Lifetime member and past President of Sebastian VFW, winning many accolades for the Auxiliary. Member of the Military Order of Cooties with honored degrees. Member and Officer of American Legion Post 189 / and LE Femme member of Post 117 of Palm Bay, FL. Lifetime member of Women of the Moose. Held Academy of Friendship, Star Recorder, College of Regents Degrees, was chosen Moose International co-worker of the year three times. Co-Leader 4H Sports Shooting of Indian River County. Avid supporter of animal rights. Her paw babies Dixie Larue, Bach, Grand paw baby Sukie. Will miss their special treats. Christine will be missed by many that loved her much, her smile would lighten the darkest night.      Joseph Wayne Stafford was buried at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 Highway 70 West, Goldsboro, Wayne Co., North Carolina.⁴ His Social Security Number was 224-21-7865.² He was born on September 13, 1964 at Goldsboro, Wayne Co., North Carolina.^1,4,2 He married Christine Belinda McGhee, daughter of William Oakley McGhee Jr. and Cynthia Belinda Hogwood, on November 10, 1984 at Hopewell, Virginia.¹ Joseph Wayne Stafford and Christine Belinda McGhee were divorced on May 2, 1994 at Hopewell, Virginia.³ Joseph Wayne Stafford died on August 2, 1999 at Tampa, Hillsborough Co., Florida, at age 34.^4,2,5,6 He Joseph Stafford, 34, of Tampa died Monday at home under the care of LifePath Hospice. A native of Goldsboro, N.C., he was a nurse technician at University Community Hospital. He is survived by his mother, Rose of Hopewell, a brother, Billy of Chester, a sister, Tina Proffitt of Richmond, and his grandmothers, Pauline Pulley, of Hopewell and Myrtle of Pikeville, N.C. He also is survived by a companion, Jerry Williams. on August 5, 1999.⁵

     Bertha Vivian Meadors was buried at Appomattox Cemetery, 703 North 21st Avenue, Hopewell, Virginia.^1,2,3 Her married name was McGhee.¹ She married Arthur Cleveland McGhee, son of William Thomas McGhee and Elizabeth Conner.^1,3 Bertha Vivian Meadors was born on May 10, 1888 at Omar, Logan Co., West Virginia.^1,2,3 She died on October 2, 1946 at Hopewell, Virginia, at age 58.^1,2,3 She Mrs. Bertha Vivian McGhee, 58, died at her home, Cedar Level, Wedneeday afternoon following a brief illness. A native of Omar, West Virginia, she has lived here the past year. She is survived by her husband, Arthur C. McGhee, a son, Robert W. Owens and one grandchild also of Cedar Level. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery. on October 4, 1946.³
