Joyce was predeceased in life by her parents and brother, Robert Abshire. Joyce is survived by her husband, Raymond Jones; children, Christina and Hunter (Keesha) Burgess; grandchildren, Brendan Bower, Jaida Soyars, Daniel and Elaina Burgess; great grandson, Bear Bower; sisters, Rose (Jerry) Davis and Pat (Sam) Bailey; brother, Terry Abshire; brother and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Joyce's love for her family was truly that of a mother's love; her self-sacrifice and devotion to her family knew no limits. There was never a time that she did not think of others first; lending a helping hand to all. Joyce was an adoring matriarch, who always ensured to put her family in the forefront of life, never passing on a chance to create everlasting memories and instill family heritage to the upcoming generations. She emitted a love for all living creatures, devoting herself to her furry family and her beloved horses. Joyce was a true advocate for animals; donating her time and resources to local organizations such as Healing Strides Therapeutic Riding Center. Joyce's passion and dedication led to over 44 years with the Kroger company; where she held positions as a Floral Clerk, Store Leader and Floral Merchandiser. Her passion for floral transcended those around her; leaving her mark for all to see. Her joy and laughter will forever fill the hearts of those that had the pleasure of spending time with her. on October 7, 2017.4

     James Robert “Pyro” Leech James Robert “Pyro” Leech, 42, of Elliston, passed away on Saturday May 6, 2017. He was employed by East Coast Metal Distributors. James served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his neighbors as a member of the Elliston Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years and at Hubert NC fire department prior to that. He was preceded in death by his father, William “Wayne” Leech; and sister-in-law, Heather Leech. James is survived by his wife, Christie Taylor Leech; daughter, Sydney Morgan Rector; mother, Sarah J. Leech; sisters, Sara “Jackie” Carneal, Sandra Jones (Ronnie); brother, William Wayne Leech, Jr; nephews, Alijah Everson (Ruriko), Christopher Jones (Crystal), Matthew Jones, Joey Leech (Hillary), Josh Leech; niece, Maddie Carneal; as well as several great-nephews and great-nieces.
