He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Sweetie) Slaydon, Salem; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Debby Slaydon, Salem, Michael and Sandra Slaydon, Roanoke; two grandchildren, Cory and Nicole Slaydon; his beloved mother, Annie Beatrice Slaydon. Also surviving are two brothers, Clifford Slaydon, James Slaydon and his wife, Joyce, all of Roanoke; two sisters and their husbands, Eleanor and Robert Garlick, Shirley and Al Day, both of Roanoke. He also left three nieces, Becky Garlick, Roanoke, Jeannette Warwick, Beth Pashley, both of Chesapeake; many friends and relatives. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on February 28, 1964.2 He married Dorothy Jane Blackford, daughter of Herlin Lee "Pete" Blackford and Eva Irene Lawrence, on February 28, 1964 at Roanoke, Virginia.7,3 Allen Jackson Slaydon died on June 5, 1994 at Pembroke, Giles Co., Virginia, at age 55.2,4,8,5

Born in Winnsboro, SC, Mr. Clark was the son of the late Joseph H. and Margaret Virginia Clark. He graduated from Mt. Zion High School, Winnsboro; attended Presbyterian College; and served in the US Army, having been stationed in Germany. He was an avid collector of guns and knives, and other "neat stuff." Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Dr. LeeAnn Clark of New York City; a sister and her husband, Patricia and Kirby Jackson of Anniston, AL; two nephews, Bryan Jackson and family of Decatur, GA, and Steven Jackson and family of Birmingham, AL; and his two canine companions.
