Coger said the youth locked himself in his room at 7690 Laurel Ave. after a heated family discussion about the discovery of cigarettes in his room. Minutes later, Coger said, the youth shot himself. An upstairs neighbor, Leland L. Schwartz of 7539 Laurel Ave., was the first to break into the youth's room, Coger said, and administered first aid until the ambulance arrived.
