He was 53. Brackman was sports editor for the newspaper for 24 years. He graduated from Covington High School and authored a weekly column on local high school sports. In 1974, Brackman was honored as an outstanding alumnus of Covington High School. Brackman also worked for several years at WKEY radio station in the Covington area, where he was known as the voice of the Cougars. Brackman also was an ordained minister. He served as the pastor of Dunlap Christian Church in Crows for 26 years. He was involved in numerous community activities, most notably fund raising for the Virginia Heart Association, and was recently honored for his 25 years of service to that organization. "He was always a consummate professional," said Johnny Gazzola, longtime public relations director of The Homestead in Hot Springs. "We worked together for 35 years. He and I were close and he always loved sports." Brackman is survived by his father, Clate; a brother, Jim; his wife, Clinda Joy; and two sons, Jonathan, a student at the University of Tennessee, and Stephen, a student at Covington High School. The interment is at Cedar Hill Cemetery. on April 16, 1996.3

He was born April 21, 1932 in Texas, a son of the late Jim C. Weeks and Daisy Bruce Weeks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Weeks; seven sisters; one brother and a special friend Aaron Marshall. Mr. Weeks was an employee of the former Hercules, Inc. until 1995 and retired in 2014 as a driver for the RADAR bus. He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a former elder of the church. He was an avid golfer and his favorite golfer was the famous Phil Mickelson. Lewis was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan and loved going on car rides. Surviving are his wife Joy Brackman Weeks of Covington; two step- sons, Jonathan Brackman of Covington and Stephen Brackman and his wife Tracey of Greenville, TN; two step grandchildren, Andrew Brackman and Amber Brackman, both of Sevierville, TN; one brother Bill and Phyllis Weeks of Florida;his mother-in-law, Reba Spence of Lewisburg, WV and a sister-in-law and her husband, Sandra and Everette Defibaugh of Lewisburg, WV and several nieces and nephews.
