John Russell "Jack" Burnett Jack was born January 17, 1939, was the son of Elmer Burnett and Alice Hirn-Burnett in Monticello Ohio. He grew up on the farms lands of Ohio and graduated from the Memorial High School in St. Marys Ohio in 1958. From 1958-1962 he served in the United States Navy on the USS Agerholm a Gearing-class destroyer. Jack enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, and his family. He had a rewarding career as a tool and die machinist. He never considered himself "just" a machinist but more of an artist. In the early 1980s, a young dirt bike racer lost his right leg while racing. Jack helped this man ride again by designing a hand held gear shift for the young riders modified bike. In the 1990s, Jack worked as a prototype tool and die machinist for an entrepreneurial medical device maker. His skill contributed to the introduction of several innovative instruments for conducting less-invasive cardiac surgery including minimally invasive valve surgery. He made some of the first instruments used to perform aortic valve procedures through smaller incisions. Survived by his loving and devoted family, Elisabeth Lucas-Burnett (wife), Tim Burnett (brother), John Burnett, Christine Wade, Barbara Phillips (children), Regina Jolley, Brandi Snow-Diehm, Lindsay Wade, Levi Burnett (grandchildren), and 6 (great grandchildren).3 He was born on January 17, 1939 at Monticello, Van Wert Co., Ohio.3 He married Carole Jean Massey, daughter of Rev. James Preston Massey and Viola L. Bayler, on June 24, 1978 at San Joaquin Co., California.1 John Russell "Jack" Burnett and Carole Jean Massey were divorced on January 6, 1981 at San Joaquin Co., California.2 John Russell "Jack" Burnett died on October 22, 2018 at Bend, Deschutes Co., Oregon, at age 79.3
