He was born December 28, 1990 at home in Floyd. Va. Mitchell was a senior at Floyd County High School and was planning to attend Nashville Auto Diesel College. He loved his Ford trucks, hunting, and working on the farm. He was employed by John Blackwell and Junior Custer of Sunnyridge Farms, in Check. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 12, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Floyd Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tommy Hall and the Rev. Robert Blackwell officiating. All who wish to celebrate Mitchell's life are invited to come. He leaves behind his brokenhearted parents, Sherman Lee Hall Sr. and Nancy Baumbach Hall; and brothers, Sherman Lee Hall Jr. and Colton Adam Basham Hall, all of Floyd; grandparents, Thomas Lee and Catherine Louise Blackwell Hall of Christiansburg; greatgrandmother, Eula Belle Williams Blackwell Quesenberry Martin of Floyd; and special friend, Hanna Mae Holt. He was blessed with a large family. Surviving uncles and aunts are Steve and Arlene Hall of Christiansburg, Timothy and Dana Hall of Knoxville, Tenn., William and Becky Baumbach of Wylie, Tex., George and Judy Baumbach of Knightdale, N.C., Gregory and Karen Baumbach of San Velijo, Calif., and Margie and Greg Oden of Leonard, Texas. Cousins are Craig and Krystine Hall; Sidney, Sierra and Ryan Hall; Grant Baumbach, Bethany and Charles Russell, John Gregory, Chelsey and Cassie Oden; Dalton Baumbach, Jared, Alex and Rachel Custer, Tabitha Sowers, Harley Hall, and Ashley, Ryan, Arianna and Caden Russell; and other cousins too numerous to list. Great uncles and aunts are Robert and Pat Blackwell of Floyd, Kenneth and Kathy Blackwell of Floyd, Fred Quesenberry of Floyd, Roscoe Hall of Floyd, Jack and Ruth Hall of Riner, Jane Shank of Floyd, "Aunt Pete" Ileda Shelor of Floyd, Mary and W.B. Nolen of Forrest, and Lyndall and Billy Cole of Pilot. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Nancy Baumbach of Leonard, Texas, formerly of Blacksburg, Va; and cousins, Toby Baumbach of Wylie, Texas, and Chris Hall of Floyd, He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2011 at New Haven Baptist Church with Professor Dr. Hoyle Bowman, the Reverend Mike Vest and the Reverend Brian Cockram officiating. Interment will follow at the Lee Cemetery at Tuggles Gap. Visitation with the family will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Gardner Funeral Home. For many years Kenneth worked at Timber Truss until he was able to retire and work hard to keep his family farm going while also finding great joy in his family. He is survived by wife, Kathy Blackwell; two sons, Charles (Janice) Blackwell, and Matthew (Kelly) Blackwell; stepchildren, Lori (Dan) Schantz, and Logan (Ciera) Boyd; grandchildren, Sage Blackwell, C.J. Flinchum, Dusten Flinchum, Mack, Krey Blackwell, Caleigh, Zachary, Caroline, Josiah Schantz, Anna, and Henry Boyd; sisters, Jane Shank, Ileda Shelor, Louise (Thomas) Hall, and Mary (W.B.) Martin; sisters-in-law and husbands, Nancy Jane and Richard Shank, Ileda and Frank Shelor, Louise and Tommy Hall, Mary and W. B. Nolen; brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Patricia Blackwell; special friend and niece, Kimberly B. Shively; an uncle and several aunts; numerous nieces, and nephews; many special school related and other friends.
