Tommy moved from Beckley, West Virginia, to various cities in the southeast, including Norfolk, Virginia; Miami, Florida; Crestview, Florida; and Webster, Texas. He finally settled in San Marcos in 1951, where he lived the rest of his life. He was married to his first wife Nelda for 26 years until her passing from cancer. In 1982, he married Jackie Wood, who had also lost her spouse to cancer. Their union was a testament to unwavering devotion and served as a model of love and commitment to their family and community. Tommy graduated from Texas State University in 1961. He was employed as an auditor for the Office of Inspector General, US Department of Agriculture (USDA). He then served in the US Army for 2 years before returning to the USDA. Tommy also worked for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, retiring in 1985. He went on to become the first internal auditor of Hays County in 1990 and was later promoted to assistant Hays County Auditor, retiring for good in 2005. For nearly 25 years, Tommy served as an elder at the San Marcos Church of Christ where he and his wife Jackie were faithful members. He played a pivotal role in establishing the local work and was always generous to those in need. He and Jackie often opened their home to college students who needed a place to live. Tommy sacrificed much for his family over the years, always putting their needs above his own. But above all, he always put God and the church first in his life. on November 21, 2024.1

Jackie Anne Petty Jackie Anne Wood Meadows of San Marcos, Texas, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024. She was born on July 31, 1941, in Brownwood, Texas, to the late Sanford and Meroba. Jackie was preceded in death by her first husband Lester Seth Wood; her parents and step-father Marshall; and her brothers William, James, and Robert. She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 42 years, Thomas (Tommy) F. Meadows, Jr., and their children: Missy (Randy) Kirby, Les Wood, Randy (Paula) Wood, Scott Wood, Mark (Barbara) Meadows, and Alan (Debbie) Meadows. She was cherished by her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "MeeMaw." Jackie graduated from Aransas Pass High School in 1959, then dedicated herself to raising her children. She later pursued higher education at Texas A&M University. She was married to her first husband Seth for 22 years until his passing from cancer. In 1982, she married Tommy Meadows, who had also lost his spouse to cancer. Their union was a testament to unwavering devotion and served as a model of love and commitment to their family and community. Jackie dedicated her life to serving others, spending years as a teacher assistant in Bryan and San Marcos. Her last teaching role was at DeZavala Elementary in San Marcos. In her retirement, she cared for her mother and mother-in-law in her own home, sacrificing much to ensure the wellbeing of her loved ones. A faithful member of the San Marcos Church of Christ for nearly 26 years, Jackie played a pivotal role in establishing the local work alongside her husbands Seth, then Tommy, in San Marcos, as well as in Bryan at the Twin City Church of Christ. Known for her talent in baking and crafting, Jackie's creations brought joy to countless celebrations. She decorated wedding, birthday, and shower cakes for nearly all her friends and acquaintances, and she made many personalized Bible bags for the children at church. She and Tommy also opened their home to college students who needed a place to live. A funeral service to celebrate Jackie's life will be held at the Chapel at the San Marcos Cemetery, with an internment at the cemetery.2 She was buried at San Marcos Cemetery, 1001 Old Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, Hays Co., Texas.3 She was born on July 31, 1941 at Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas.2,3 As of July 30, 1982,her married name was Meadows.1 She married Thomas Franklin Meadows Jr., son of Thomas Franklin Meadows Sr. and Ila M.
