     Helen Yvonne Bane was buried at White Cemetery (also known as Crockett Cemetery), Rt. 637, near Rt. 11, Shawsville, Montgomery Co., Virginia.¹ She Helen Yvonne Goodwin, Apr 20, 1936 - Apr 28, 2022. Helen Yvonne Bane Goodwin, 86, of Roanoke, Virginia, but formerly of Salem, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Born in Craig County, Virginia to the late Roy Addison and Stella Duncan Bane, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Lynwood Goodwin, two sisters and a brother. Helen was a lifetime member of Green Ridge Baptist Church where she helped to cook and serve Wednesday meals. She also served as a volunteer at Lewis Gale Medical Center for five years as the friendly face at the front desk. It has been said that if you love what you do, then you will never work a day in your life and that proved true in Helen's career with Roanoke County Schools. She retired from Roanoke County Schools as a Food Service Manager in 1995 after 37 years of service. In retirement, she enjoyed taking trips and other activities with the Salem Senior Center. She was especially fond of her "Hand and Foot" card-playing friends with whom she played twice a week. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter of whom she was so very proud, Lynda Poff, and her husband, Steve; sister, Hazel Nichols and husband, Nick and a very special friend, Barbara Pollard.      Wyoma Elizabeth Goodwin Wyoma Graham Rock, 76, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 19, 2016. She was a daughter of the late Elbert and Callie Hickson Goodwin. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her babies, both furry and feathered, and spending time with her husband Cecil, family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 24 years, Cecil; her son, Eugene Graham; two brothers, Lynnwood and Jack Goodwin; and a sister, Carol Anderson. She is survived by a daughter, Faith McCabe and her partner, Robert Podesta; three grandchildren, Keenan McCabe, Graydon Graham, Matthew Graham, his wife Elyshia and their daughter Kieley; a brother, William Goodwin and wife Penny; her sister, Shirley Price and husband Russell; two sisters-in-law, Arbelle Goodwin and Helen Goodwin, and a very special friend and neighbor, Charlie Harvey. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Tammy Dudding and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elbert and Callie Goodwin; brother, Elbert Lynwood Goodwin; and sister, Carolyn Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Arabelle Hilton Goodwin; daughter, Angela Thornton (Dwayne); sons, Mickey and Lynwood Goodwin; sisters, Shirley Price (Russell), and Wyoma Rock (Cecil); brother, Bill Goodwin (Penny); grandson, David Thornton; granddaughter, Misty Goodwin; great-granddaughters, Makayla Thornton, Aubrey Goodwin, Makaylee Akers; sister-in-law, Helen Goodwin; several nieces and nephews; as well as his dog, Bowser. Mary is also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Goodwin; son, Mickey Goodwin; and daughter; Angela Thornton; brothers, Ernest Leroy Hilton and James Cortland Hilton; and sister, Betty Ann Bremer. Angela is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Dwayne Thornton; son, David and wife Britni Thornton; grandchildren, Makayla and Jacob Thornton; her mother, Mary Goodwin; brother, Lynwood Goodwin; her beloved dog, Gypsie; as well as many special family and friends. Angela graduated from Shawsville High School and worked at Falling Branch Elementary School for 10 years. She loved painting and her grandchildren more than life.
