Donald Lee Wirt Don L. Wirt, Apr 4, 1936 - Feb 25, 2025. RICHLAND HILLS - Donald Lee Wirt was born in Salem, Virginia, on April 4, 1936, to Roy Washington Wirt and Annie Lee Wade Wirt. He was one of seven siblings, and the last of the boys to make the transition to his heavenly home. Beloved brothers, Billy, Roy, and Bobby Wirt preceded him, as well as sisters, Marion Williams and Rose Ann Dooley. Interment will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Boulevard, Colleyville, Texas. Don graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, Virginia, in 1954. He then left home to attend Airline training school in Kansas City, Missourri. After completion of the program, he went to work for Trans Texas Airways in Dallas, Texas, in 1955. In 1957, he met the love of his life, Marla Jean Hoskey, and they were married in June of 1958. In 1959, he went to work for American Airlines in Columbus, Ohio; however, after four years up North, he decided the winters there were too cold working outside and he transferred back to Dallas Love Field. After a brief stay in Irving, they purchased their long term residence of 56 years on Cheryl Avenue, in Hurst. There, they raised their three children, Tracy, Vickie, and Linda. The family attended First Hurst since 1967. He worked with Marla teaching in first grade Sunday school, and worked in the church nursery as well. He was a deacon at First Hurst and ministered to the widows assigned to him. Don enjoyed working with the public as he assisted passengers in their travels all over the world. He had to opportunity to see some celebrities as they traveled through Dallas, both at Love Field and later DFW airport. He was outgoing, and never shied away from sharing his faith in our Lord. On more than one occasion, he brought stranded travelers to our home overnight when they missed their connection and had nowhere to stay. After 33 years with AA, he retired in 1995; however, he went to work at the Airport PGA shop, merging his love for golf with his desire to remain connected to his lifelong environment of the hustle and bustle of airport life. Don loved to GOLF!!!!!!!!!!! Don loved to golf with his brother, Roy, and later with his in-laws, which prompted Marla to want to try her hand at the game as well. They enjoyed the game together for many years, traveling to different states, and even Canada, to play. Some of the well-known courses they were privileged to play were Torre Pines in California, Banff in Canada, and Robert Trent Golf Trails in Alabama. Don and his brothers, Roy and Bobby, as well as Marla, were able to attend a practice round at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia, one year, and also walked the grounds observing many of the Pro Golfers. He enjoyed serving as a marshal for over 10 years for the Colonial Golf Tournament in Fort Worth. Don is survived by Marla Wirt, his wife of 66 and half years; children, Tracy and Kimberly Wirt, Vickie and Bari Henry, and Linda and Brett Harper; sister, Carol Jean Harrington; sister-in-law, Linda Wirt; brother-in-law, Al Dooley; as well as seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.9 He was buried at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Tarrant Co., Texas.9 He was born on April 4, 1936 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.2,3,9 He married Marla Jean Hoskey on June 30, 1958 at Dallas Co., Texas.8,4,9 Donald Lee Wirt died on February 25, 2025 at Texas at age 88.9

Robert Keeney, Jr., age 65, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at Memorial City Hospital from complications related to cancer and heart disease. Blind since his early 40s, Bob was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a practicing attorney in Houston since 1972 and a lifelong, passionate advocate for people with disabilities. Born in Princeton, WVA, August 5, 1941, Bob moved to Houston in 1969 where he finished law school at South Texas College of Law. He received a Bachelor's degree in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and attended T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond from 1967 to 1969. His proudest accomplishment was as a pioneer in services for children with autism in Houston. He was co-founder of Avondale House for Autistic Children, along with his ex-wife, Carole Keeney Harrington, and a group of parents of autistic children. Bob served as chairman of the board its first 10 years in operation and was the key person responsible for its survival and existence in a time when virtually no services were available in Houston for children with autism. He also served as chairman of the board of Spring Branch Academy, a private school, where his son, Christopher, first received education at age 4. He also was a board member of Houston Advocates for Mental Health in Children (HAMIC). Bob was appointed by the governor in 1986 to the Texas Commission for the Blind and served as its chairman from 1995 to 2005. He was mayor of the City of Spring Valley from 1986-1991 and served two years prior to that time as the city judge. He also was general counsel and partner at Harold A. Clark Investment Builders from 1974-1978 and worked his way through law school as a sales representative for National Airlines. Bob is survived by his only son, Christopher Patrick Keeney, age 39, who adored his father and who was the drive behind Bob's commitment to serve children with disabilities, especially those with autism. Also surviving Bob are his sisters, Elizabeth (Sandee) Keeney Garnett and Rebecca Keeney, and his brother, Grover C. Keeney, all of Roanoke, Virginia. He was predeceased by his mother, Bridgid Flanigan Keeney and father, Charles R. Keeney, Sr. Especially important in Bob's life was his legal assistant of 13 years, Carmen Gravis, who made it possible for him to excel as a "old blind lawyer," as Bob referred to himself. She was a devoted employee and close friend. Bob considered himself grandfather to her two children, Gabrielle, age 9, and James, age 6. They brought him great joy. on November 30, 2006.3
