Mr. Clower was born in Floyd County, where he attended public school. After moving to Salem, he was employed by Leas McVitty Tanneries for more than 40 years, retiring in 1972. Active in church affairs all his adult life, Mr. Clower was a founder of the Salem Wesleyan Church, Board of Trustees Meritus, and it's Secretary and Treasurer for 19 years. Funeral services will be conducted at the Salem Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, October 12, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem Wesleyan Church in his name and will be appreciated. The family will receive friends at the Lotz Salem Chapel on Monday From 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on October 11, 1999.1

She is survived to two sons, Wendell Clarence McNeil and his wife Christine, Neville Winston McNeil and his wife Roxanne, all of Check; one daughter, Donna Jean McNeil Flinchum and her husband Jessie of Pilot; four grandchildren, who knew her as "Ome", William Ross Flinchum and wife Judy, Jeffery Lynn Flinchum, Tammy McNeil Sapp and husband Greg, Christopher Scott McNeil; and two great-granddaughters, Lauren M. Sapp and Kelsey L. Sapp. She is also survived by one sister, Hazel Graham; three sisters-in-law, Ida McNeil, Inez Clower and Dolores McNeil and one brother-in-law, John T. McNeil. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the Wood Funeral Home in Floyd, with the Rev. Ed Richardson and Rev. David Goad officiating, with interment in the Wilson Cemetery. Thanks to Heritage Hall staff and especially Ann, Roberta and Kaki. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wood Funeral Home in Floyd.

Hazel Lutshia Clower died on January 16, 2010 at Virginia at age 91.6,9 She Hazel Clower Graham, 91, won her final victory as she passed from this earth to her final reward, Saturday, January 16, 2010. Born on March 3, 1918 in the community of Terrys Fork in Floyd, Va., she was the 9th of 10 children born to William and Annie Clower and also the last of those same ten to leave this earth. Leaving several years before her was her best friend and beloved husband, Earl Graham. Hazel's life always revolved around God and family. Until her last moment this remained true. The lifesong and example that Hazel leaves will carry on through her children and grandchildren and will surely continue on for generations to come. A lifelong Wesleyan, Hazel was a member of Parkway Wesleyan Church. Left behind to miss her are five children; daughters and spouses, Brenda and Bill Bryant, Linda and Barry Hudgins, Teresa and Thom Whitt; sons and spouses, Reggie and Ellen Graham, Bobby and Sharon Muse; eight grandchildren and spouses, Sean and Kim Hudgins, Kristen and Steve Gibson, Joy and Mitch Copenhaver, Scott and Amanda Graham, Philip and Marie Graham, Jordon Whitt, Kara Muse and Daniel Muse; and 17 great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Snyder Nursing home for their care and love for her these past seven years. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, January 19th from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Parkway Wesleyan Church located at 3645 Orange Ave., Roanoke, VA. Dr. John Ott and the Rev. D.G. Reynolds will officiate. Interment to follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel, 362-1237. on January 18, 2010.6

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrel R. Lawrence, in 1986; two great-grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother. Visitation will be Friday, March 27, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. A funeral service will be Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Rick Stein, pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. on March 26, 2009.3

She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She will be sadly missed. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Church Hill Cemetery, Salem with the Rev. Dan Netting officiating.
