     Norma Jean Songer Norma Hall, Feb 15, 1947 - Feb 17, 2014. Norma Jean Hall, of Christiansburg, has passed away after a several year battle with breast cancer. She faced her death with the same courage and good-natured disposition as she lived her life; never complaining, never feeling sorry for herself and always bringing joy to those around her. She is grieved by a large devoted family, many friends and beloved dog Abby, who all loved her greatly. Norma worked for Poly-Scientific/MOOG Components Group for 49 years. Her last position was Material Analyst. She served as Vice President of the Poly-Scientific Employee Credit Union and on its Board of Directors. Norma was a loyal employee of MOOG. MOOG was equally loyal to her; fully supporting her until the end. Norma's family and friends express their deep appreciation to MOOG, its management and employees for their many kindnesses to her. Family and friends also want to express their immense gratitude to Carilion Hospice Services for their professional, caring and loving support of Norma in her last days. With Norma's passing, so much is lost. Gone is the warm smile, the contagious laugh. Gone is the attractive lady who was known to buy groceries for struggling families, or to simply go up to an obviously needy family shopping Goodwill and slip them money. Gone is the patron of the Angel Tree; she always adopted several Angels and saw to it that her friends did too. Gone is one of the Virginia Tech Hokies most loyal and devoted fans. Norma was always first to respond to a family crisis or the emergencies of friends. She gave her money, her talents and her time whenever she saw they were needed. Her compassion and kind heartedness was endless. Norma Jean Hall was an elegant, beautiful, kind, hardworking and generous person. Today, the world is indeed a much darker place for all those fortunate to have known and loved her. Her family and friends celebrate her life, her many good works and will forever cherish her.³ She was buried at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 2880 North Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.⁴ She was born on February 15, 1947 at Giles Co., Virginia.^4,1,2,3 She married Frank Wayne Wimmer, son of Glenn Phlegar Wimmer and Bertha Gladys Light, on November 17, 1972 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.¹ As of November 17, 1972,her married name was Wimmer.¹ Norma Jean Songer died on February 17, 2014 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 67.³

     Rosa Mae "Rosie" Carter was buried at Monte Vista Park Cemetery, Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^3,5 Her Social Security Number was 150-40-7043.⁵ She was born on August 8, 1898 at North Carolina.⁵ As of October 26, 1927,her married name was Iddings.⁴ She married Wilsie Daniel Iddings, son of Anderson Lafayette Iddings and Laura Laverna Whitenack, on October 26, 1927 at Bristol, Virginia.^1,4,6 Rosa Mae "Rosie" Carter died on December 8, 1969 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 71.^2,3,5 She Mrs. Rosa Mae Iddings, 71, of Matoaka, formerly of Bluefield, died Monday night in a Bluefield hospital following long illness. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. She had made her home in Matoaka with a sister, Mrs. Mose Jenkins. Additional survivors include one son, Ronald L. Iddings of Radford, Va; one other sister Mrs. Grover Baldwin of Lansing N.C; one brother, Robie Carter of Matoaka and three grandchildren. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Bluefield. Pallbearers: Thurmond Scruggs, John Lockhart, Joe Meade, Arthur Carroll, Roy Hill and John Wilkinson. on December 10, 1969.³

     His Social Security Number was 232-58-9249.⁴ Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Iddings married Colleen Unknown.² Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Iddings was born on February 9, 1937 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^2,4 He married Kathleen Leona McClosky on August 7, 1955 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.¹⁰ Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Iddings and Kathleen Leona McClosky were divorced on December 3, 1971 at Hamilton Co., Ohio.⁶ Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Iddings married Catherine Anne Blake on December 18, 1971 at Jonesboro, Grant Co., Indiana.³ Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Iddings and Catherine Anne Blake were divorced on August 22, 1986 at Clay Co., Florida.⁵ Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Iddings died on April 19, 2007 at St. Augustine, St. Johns Co., Florida, at age 70.^2,4 He Ronald Lee Iddings, age 70, died peacefully at his home in St. Augustine, Fla., on Thursday, April 19, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Feb 9, 1937, in the small town of Bluefield, W.Va., raised by his parents, Wilsie and Rose Iddings. Ron and his beloved wife, Colleen, reside in St. Augustine. He was a dedicated husband and father. He lived life with great integrity. Surviving are his wife, Colleen Iddings; his sons, Dan Iddings, James Iddings, Lee Iddings; daughter, Dawn Bloom and husband, Jack Bloom; and three grandchildren, Nicholas Iddings, Jackson Bloom and Travis Bloom. on April 22, 2007.²

     Willie Ruth Argabright was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.^5,3,6 Her Social Security Number was 231-32-6554.⁷ She was born on October 17, 1899 at Basham, Floyd Co., Virginia; Her death certificate has a birth year of 1900.^1,3,4,7 She married Okey Chapel "Oakey" Iddings, son of Anderson Lafayette Iddings and Laura Laverna Whitenack, on April 11, 1925 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,2,3,6 As of April 11, 1925,her married name was Iddings. Willie Ruth Argabright died on October 4, 1976 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 76.^3,6 She Mrs. Willie Ruth Iddings, 201 Trinkle Ave. N.E., died Monday in a Roanoke hospital. She was a member of the Hollins Rd. Church of the Brethren, and the widow of Okey C. Iddings. She is survived by one son, Paul C. Iddings; one grandson, Kyle A. Iddings; one sister, Mrs. Imogene Wood; a number of nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on October 5, 1976.⁶

     Kerry Eli Sutphin was buried at Ward Sutphin Cemetery, Pilot, Montgomery Co., Virginia.² He was born on September 26, 1900 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^2,3,4 He married Bertha Luvenia "Venie" Iddings, daughter of Anderson Lafayette Iddings and Laura Laverna Whitenack, on June 23, 1921 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.⁵ Kerry Eli Sutphin died on September 9, 1955 at Radford, Virginia, at age 54.^1,2,3,6 He Sept. 9 - Kerry Eli Sutphin, 55, Pilot, died today in a Radford hospital. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha L. Sutphin; a daughter, Mrs. E. F. Cole, Pilot: three sons, Ward E., Cecil L. and Frank A. Sutphin, all of Pilot; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Nolley and Mrs. Grover Treadway, both of Oak Hill, W.Va; three brothers, Thomas Sutphin. Princeton, W.Va;, H. R Sutphin, East Rainelle, W.Va; McKenley Sutphin, Mt. Hope, W.Va., and four grandchildren. Burial in the family cemetery near Pilot. on September 10, 1955.⁶

     Ward William Sutphin was buried at Sunset Cemetery, 501 South Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^5,11 He was born on September 27, 1924 at Pilot, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^6,7,11,8 He married Elsie Mae Dobbins on March 17, 1944 at Rogers, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,12,7 Ward William Sutphin died on March 26, 2019 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 94.^5,13 He Ward Sutphin, 94, of Pilot, Va. passed away on, Tuesday, March 26, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Bertha Iddings Sutphin; wife, Elsie Sutphin; brother, Frank Sutphin; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Sutphin. Ward was a United States Navy Veteran having served in World War II, was a retired VDOT employee with 33 years of service, and a longtime member of Pilot United Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Regina Young and husband, Allen; son, Barry Sutphin; grandchildren, Clark Young and Vanessa, Gail Duffy, Stephanie Morris and Bradley; great-grandson, Conor Duffy; step-great-granddaughter, Tirzah Wimmer; siblings, Cecil Sutphin, Carrie Cole; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as friend, Lois Basham. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. on March 29, 2019.⁵

     Cecil Lafayette Sutphin married Marjorie Ann "Margie" Sowers.¹ Cecil Lafayette Sutphin was born on January 13, 1926 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,5,6

     Frank Arton Sutphin was buried at Ward Sutphin Cemetery, Pilot, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^4,6 His Social Security Number was 231-24-4918.¹³ He married Jeaneen Louise Cox.^1,14 Frank Arton Sutphin was born on February 16, 1928 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,13,4,5,6,7 He died on March 19, 1969 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 41.^13,4,6,14 He Frank A. Sutphin, 41, died Wednesday at his home. Surviving are his wife, Jeaneen Cox Sutphin; two sons, Allen Sutphin, Erie Sutphin, at home; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Marie Cole, Pilot; two brothers, Ward W. Sutphin, Cecil Sutphin, Pilot. Burial in the family cemetery, Pilot. on March 20, 1969.¹⁴

     Elsie Mae Dobbins was buried at Sunset Cemetery, 501 South Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^2,4 She was born on May 4, 1926 at Riner, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^2,5,3,4 She married Ward William Sutphin, son of Kerry Eli Sutphin and Bertha Luvenia "Venie" Iddings, on March 17, 1944 at Rogers, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 As of March 17, 1944,her married name was Sutphin.³ Elsie Mae Dobbins died on October 14, 2009 at Pilot, Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 83.^2,5,4 She Elsie Dobbins Sutphin, 83, of Pilot, Va., passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. She was born on May 4, 1926, to Latha and Annie Roop Dobbins of Riner, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Dobbins. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Ward Sutphin; a son, Barry Sutphin and his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Regina Young and her husband, Allen; grandchildren, Clark and Vanessa Young, Gail and Brennan Duffy and Stephanie and Brad Morris; and four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Blake, Tirzah and Conor. Elsie enjoyed cooking, gardening, tending her flowers and visiting with family and friends. The family wishes to thank Carilion Clinic Hospice of Radford, Va., for their loving care. Interment will follow at the Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, Va. on October 16, 2009.²

     Barbara Ann Cox was buried at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, Pulaski Co., Virginia.^2,5,6 She was born on February 5, 1949 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.^3,4,5,6 She married Barry Stephen Sutphin, son of Ward William Sutphin and Elsie Mae Dobbins, on July 23, 1978 at Glade Spring, Washington Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 As of July 23, 1978,her married name was Sutphin.³ Barbara Ann Cox died on July 3, 2016 at Pilot, Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 67.^2,5,6 She Barbara Ann Sutphin, 67, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at her home in Pilot, Va. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, John Cox; brother, Douglas Cox; mother-in-law, Elsie Sutphin; and brothers-in-law, Ronnie Graham and R.G. Bostic. She is survived by her husband, Barry Sutphin; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Bradley Morris; mother, Mary Cox; sister, Rosemary Graham; sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Gary Kinsley; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Alice Cox; father-in-law, Ward Sutphin; sister-in-law, Regina Young and husband Allen; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Ronald and Lois Underwood; as well as numerous other friends and family. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Harry McCoy and his staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care Center, the staff who took care of Barbara at Lewis Gale Montgomery, the MBT Club from Huffville United Methodist Church for all the love and kindness shown to her.
