After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Pat is now at peace in the beautiful garden the Lord prepared for her. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by a special friend, Marcia Greenwood. Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Kermit Poff Jr; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Harvey Thomas Jr. of Buchanan, and Sheila and John Hornbeck of Boones Mill; son, Kermit Poff III of New Castle; grandchildren, James Marshall McCune, Nicole Lynn Hornbeck and Lynn Mari Hornbeck, Boones Mill; her parents, Douglas and Lenna Drain, Roanoke; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Barry Stanley, Salem, Susan Wyatt, Lansing, N.C., Martha and Kerry Boyer, Boones Mill, Rebecca and Steve Walters, Christiansburg. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; her mother-in-law, Lillian Poff, Roanoke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard K. and Sandy Poff; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shelby and Ralph Moran, Marcella and Clinton Jones, Elaine and Ira "Buddy" Martin; and a special friend, Tom Greenwood and his family. She will be missed by many friends and relatives. The family extends a very special thank you to Macky and The Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Thursday from Lotz Roanoke Chapel on Franklin Road, Roanoke, with Rev. Maurice E. Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lotz Roanoke Chapel. Flowers will be accepted but memorial gifts may be made to The Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Arrangements by Lotz Roanoke Chapel. on September 8, 1998.1
