They enjoyed many fishing trips to the Stellako River in British Columbia. They also enjoyed walking all over Roseburg and taking hikes down to Cow Creek Canyon. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, husband Vere, Sister Iola Mathis, daughter Cora Lynn Miller, granddaughter Shana and her husband, Royce. She is Survived by her daughter Kathy Howington, Son-in-law Gary, grandsons Eric (Cheryl) Howington, Heath (Karen) Howington, Roger Bitner, and Dirk (Darla) Bitner, ten great-grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren, and caregivers who were very special to her. on September 19, 2017.3

James Riley Nordyke died in January, 1919 at Custer Co., Oklahoma, at age 78.5 He John Nordyke received a letter Friday from Weatherford, Okla., stating his father and sister, Rev. Jas. R. Nordyke and daughter Maude, had died of influenza and pneumonia and they were buried Sunday, Jan. 12. They were former residents of this community and Rev. Nordyke was pastor of the East Fork church at one time. on January 22, 1919.5

Services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday in Bethany; burial in Coffey, Mo. on July 18, 1967.3
