He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Cora DeWeese Simpson; and several brothers and sisters. He retired from Precision Fabrics. Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Audrey Kemp Simpson; daughter, Trina I. Simpson of Roanoke; brother, Hugh W. Simpson and wife Delores of Bent Mountain; sisters, Doris S. Poling of Roanoke, Laura S. Wimmer and husband Newton of Jacksonville, N.C. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Raleigh Court Health Care Center and to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for their many acts of kindness and compassion during Wayne's illness.
