Metzler, Jr. and Tom Metzler; grandchildren, Teresa, Matthew, Adam, Kristi, Traci, Richard, Susie, Billie Jo, Tucker "Tom", Jimmy, Stephen, Gary and Debra Anne; stepgrandchildren, Michael, Robert, Elizabeth, Tammy, Kim, Karen and Mark; several great, and great-great-grandchildren. Interment to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on March 18, 2005.1

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Gordonsville. T. Poff; and five brothers, Roy, Horace, Elmer, Clarence and Eric Poff, of Roanoke. on January 31, 1945.9

Ruth worked many years as a supervisor at Miller & Rhodes.Ruth loved her family dearly and is survived by her son, Lynn Townsend and wife, Barbara, of Richmond; granddaughters, Tiffany Talliaferro and husband, Foster, of Doylestown, Pa., Kimberly Townsend Stansell and husband, Scott, of Richmond, Va., and Sherry Allaire and husband, Tim, of Lewisville, N.C; grandson, Rhett Townsend of Manakin Sabot, Va; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ashlyn, and Wyatt Talliaferro, Jacob, Sarah and James Stansell, William and Kya Allaire; sister, Edith Bova of Roanoke; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. on September 28, 2016.7

She was survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Basil Williams of Copper Hill; one brother Posey King of Copper Hill; two granddaughters and husbands, Sandra and Lynn Shumake of Glenwood, MD; Jamean and Mario Guerrera of New York, NY; two grandsons and wives, Paul and Susan Williams of Broadway, NC; Terry and Judy Williams of Boones Mill, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be at Copper Hill Church of the Brethern with interment in the church cemetery. on December 27, 1989.3

She was a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and in her later years was an active member of the Widow's Club. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her many friends. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Louise Ballard Osika (Dennis) of Lansing, Linda Whiting Hopkins (Joseph III) of Lansing; son, Robert L. (Margaret) Ballard of Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Roger Ballard; second husband, Richard L. Whiting; loving brother and sister, Herman Poff and Eva Poff Hurley; and a grandson, Jason Ballard. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Thelma's friends and caregivers at Lakeside Nursing Home and to the wonderful staff at Hospicare for taking such good care of her these past few months and weeks. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. on October 11, 2004.2

Mrs. Settle was a former cook at Clendenin High and Clendenin Junior High schools for 12 years. Surviving: sons, William O. Jr. and Walter Anderson "Andy", both of Clendenin; brother, Charles M. Poff of Birmingham, Ala; four grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church of Clendenin with the Rev. Gerald Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Clendenin Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after noon today at Knight-Young Funeral Home, Clendenin. The body will be taken to the church an hour before the service. on June 6, 1973.4

Burial following in Clover Hollow Cemetery at Newport. on January 29, 1999.1
