She was born in Montgomery County, VA, on November 20, 1938, to the late John Sherman and Della Richardson Richards. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Thompson, Mary Epperly, Frances Smith, and brothers, Roy Richards and James Richards. She was a member of Bible Holiness Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Troy L. Shelor; sons and daughter-in-law, Bruce Shelor, Jeff and Joana Shelor; grandchildren, Anna (Dylan) Guiter, and Aaron Shelor; numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives. The family wishes to thank Heritage Hall for their care during Betty’s rehabilitation.
