     Darlene Faye "Dean" Ferris Darlene "Dean" Faye Ferris, December 29, 1958 - May 17, 2022. Darlene Faye Ferris, 63, affectionately known as “Dean,” peacefully passed away on May 17, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents Vaughn and Kathleen Ferris. She is survived by her sister Connie Moneyhan (Tom) and nieces Hollie Behr (Derek); Katelyn Wilkerson (Dylan); and Kim Nickols (John). She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of family and friends who were often entertained by her stories and quirky sense of humor. A devoted CNA, she treated her patients with dignity and care. Her positive outlook, generous spirit, and kind heart left an impression wherever she went. She had a deep love for animals especially dogs and horses. Many thanks to the staff at Bon Secours Hospice. Stephen Bell, Jr; a sister, Nancy Royer and husband, Mel of Roanoke; a brother, Robert Hamrick of Roanoke Rapids, N.C; five children, Ginny Martin, Blacksburg, Rodney Bell and wife, Karen, Lynchburg, Michael Bell and wife, Carol, Atlanta, Ga., Jackie Triplett and husband, Bill, Lexington Park, Md., Pam Reed and husband, Robert, Charlotte, N.C; two special nieces and a special nephew, Mary Ann Julg and husband, Charlie, Salem, Doug Bell and wife, Arlene, Niota, Tenn., Susie Johnson and husband, Glenn, Sandy, Utah; eight grandchildren, Petie Martin, Charles Julg, Kelli Julg, Josh Bell, Andrew Bell, Scott Johnson, Megan Triplett, and Sophie Reed; and numerous other relatives. She was a registered nurse, retired from the Radford Arsenal, and was a longtime member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church. Her interests included square dancing, RV travel, and church activities, including Emmaus community. Funeral services will be held at the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, 111 Church Street, Blacksburg, on Sunday, October 19, 2003, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Reggie Tuck and Rev. Don MacNicoll officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Steve and Betty Bell Scholarship Fund at the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 931, Blacksburg, Va. 24063, or to a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg. on October 18, 2003.²
