Born June 28, 1947 in New Castle, he was a son of the late Clifton and Esther Elmore. He was the minister of the Mudfork Church of Christ for 44 years, as well as Springville Christian Church for 27 years. He also served as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Blueridge College of Evangelism. He was a loving and devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many through the years. He loved to preach. During his ministry he touched countless lives, including baptizing 342, conducting 454 funerals, and performing 152 weddings. He also preached 188 revivals in eleven states, as well as one in Mexico, resulting in a total of 59 baptisms. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending Virginia Tech sporting events, and watching his favorite shows, The Andy Griffith Show and Duck Dynasty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Carol Mae Elmore. Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Mark Elmore (Tonya) of Springville, Va., and John David Elmore (Terri) of King, N.C; two daughters, Rhonda Elmore of North Tazewell, Va., and Rhoda Whitaker (Warren) of Springfield, Ky; six granddaughters, Kimberly, Kristen, Haley, Faith, Madison and Laken; one brother, Allen Elmore (Amanda) of Roanoke, Va; and a multitude of Christian friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Mudfork Church of Christ with Joe Hall, Brian Mullins, Glenn Tabor and Warren Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be J.C. Pendleton, Larry Brown, Eddie Dickenson, Eddie Shrader, Jeff Carter, Frank Aldridge, C.C. Brooks, Kevin Billips, Harry Yates, Bill Kinser and Kenny Puckett. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blueridge College of Evangelism, P.O. She supported her husband in the ministry for forty years at the Mudfork Church of Christ including twenty three years at the Springville Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Ervin. Survivors include her husband, Johnny Elmore; two sons, Mark Elmore and wife, Tonya of Springville, Va. and John David Elmore of King, N.C; two daughters, Rhonda Elmore of North Tazewell, Va. and Rhoda Whitaker and husband, Warren of Springfield, Ky; six granddaughters, Kimberly, Kristen, Haley, Faith, Madison, and Laken; four brothers, Andy of San Diego, Calif., Tom and wife, Kathy of Lilburn, Ga., Dave of Danville, Ill., and Gary and wife, Linda of Stewardson, Ill. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Mudfork Church of Christ with Joe Hall, Brian Mullins, and Warren Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be Larry Brown, Eddie Dickenson, Eddie Shrader, Jeff Carter, Frank Aldridge, and C.C. Brooks. Survivors include his wife, Ann Yates; a daughter, Linda Finch; two stepdaughters; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane. on August 24, 2001.6

     Rada Cora Etta Hensley SUTHERLIN - The funeral for Rada Hensley Eanes, 83, 7618 South Boston Highway, and formerly of Ferry Road, Danville, will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Burks. Burial will be in Schoolfield Cemetery. She died Monday, April 7, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been in declining health for a number of years. Born Oct. 15, 1913, in Meadows of Dan, she was a daughter of Jasper Hensley and Priscilla Yeatts Hensley. She was married to John Walter Eanes, who died May 15, 1979. She spent most of her life in the Danville area, where she was employed for Dan River Inc. as a spinner before retiring. She was a member of Ferry Road Friends Church. Survivors include six sons, John Wayne Eanes and Freddie Warren Eanes, both of Danville, Glenn Elwood Eanes and Jimmie Davis Eanes, both of Greensboro, N.C., Robert Lee Eanes of Blanche, N.C., and Ernest William Eanes of Sutherlin; one brother, Garner Wayne Hensley of Meadows of Dan; four sisters, Avis Dalton and Clarice Austin, both of Meadows of Dan, Alma Burgin of Belton, S.C., and Mozelle Baggwell of Greenville, S.C; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
