A pedestrian crossing the Washington street bridge saw the man's body floating in the water and notified the fire department. The body was taken to the Wilson Funeral Home at Fayette St. and Delaware Av. Coroner Max J. Galdman said at noon he had not yet been notified of the finding of the body. At the funeral home, an attendant said the body appeared to have been in the water three or four weeks, but that no signs of violence were evident. State police were attempting to get in touch with the victim's family. The young man was about 6 feet tall and weighed 180 pounds. The young man was wearing a pair of army winter uniform trousers. City police were checking army authorities to see what information could be obtained from them. on May 24, 1946.2 He Fayetteville, May 23 - Troopers from the Charleston detachment of state police were in Fayetteville yesterday Checking with relative and friends of Charles Poff, 21, of Fayetteville, who was reported missing in Charleston early Sunday morning. As yet no word has been received in regard to his whereabouts it was revealed. Harry Reynolds, of Fayetteville, was Poff's companion when they left for Charleston on Saturday and reported him missing when he failed to return to the hotel room. Reynolds has since returned to Fayetteville, it was reported. Poff, a veteran of Pacific service with the United States Marine Corps, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Poff, of Fayetteville. He recently received his discharge from the service. The youth's description given to the state notes he is six feet one inch tall, weighs 193 pounds, and was wearing a brown suit, a light blue shirt, brown shoes, and was bareheaded when last seen. on May 24, 1946.3

A member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, she also was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and a 50-year member of Psi Iota Xi sorority. Survivors include two sisters, Katherine Book of Indianapolis and Mary Virginia Book of White Plains, N.Y; a sister-in-law, Mrs. William H. Book of Indianapolis; a nephew, Robert M. Book of Carmel. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Abbott, William, Sheldon, Howard and Morris; and a sister, Dorothy Book. on April 22, 1977.9

During the early 1920s, she was head of the Latin department at Milligan (Tenn.) College, and the history department at Newton (Ill.) Community High School. Miss Book began teaching history at Tech in 1923, retiring in 1966. She was a member of Alpha Honorary fraternity, Pi Beta Phi sorority, Indiana Historical Society and the national, Indiana and Marion County councils for the social studies. She also was a member of Indianapolis Education Association, Indiana State Teacher's Association, Political Science Academy, Tech's Freedom Foundation Committee and Central Christian Church. She had been president and vice-president of the Columbia University Alumni Association of Indiana. She received the Tech Freedom Foundation award and medal, and Columbia University's alumni medal. In 1962, she was the first woman to receive the dean's award at Columbia College in New York. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Survivors include a sister, Mary V. Book. on May 5, 1984.5

He moved to Bartholomew county with his family when a small child. For 22 years, Mr. Book was resident manager of the U. S. Rubber company in Indianapolis, and for the past three years was owner of a wholesale rubber company there. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Scottish Rite, and Downey street Christian church in Indianapolis. He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughters, Mrs. Olan Blankenship of Lafayette and Martha Jean Book at home, and two grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, William H. Book, executive vice-president of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce; Abbott Book, executive secretary of the northern California and Nevada council of churches, and Howard Book of the Reed Roller Bit company in New York; five sisters, Miss Katherine Book, teacher at Technical high school in Indianapolis; Mrs. William Sugden of Long Beach, Calif; Miss Dorothy Book, dean of the graduate school of social work at Boston college; Miss Mary Virginia Book, director of social work at Beekman hospital in New York, and Miss Lois Book, Columbus grade school teacher. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. on November 3, 1952.12 He died on November 3, 1952 at Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, at age 51.12,6

Book, 52 year old, former Indianapolis resident and for the last 11 years dean of the Boston College School of Social Work, will he held Friday at Boston, where she had lived for 20 years. Miss Book was a sister of William H. Book, executive vice-president of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. Born at Martinsville, Va., Miss Book was a daughter of the late Rev. William H. Book, who was pastor of the Columbus Christian Church for 20 years. The Book family moved to Columbus in her youth and she was educated in the schools there. Miss Book, who died Tuesday in her home after a heart attack, was a 1924 graduate of Butler University and lived here until 1928 while on the staff of the Family Welfare Society. She did graduate work at Fordham University and the New York School of Social Work and did social work in New York before going to Boston College, where she helped organize the school of social work. Miss Book received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Boston College in 1933. She has served as president of the Massachusetts Conference of Social Work and director of the Boston Community Fund, and was a member of many state commissions in her field. Survivors include three brothers, William H. Book of Indianapolis; the Rev. Abbott Book of San Francisco and Howard B. Book of New York; four sisters, Miss Katherine Book of Indianapolis, Miss Lois Book of Columbus, Mrs. William Sugden of Norfolk, Va., and Miss Mary Virginia Book of Valhalla, N.Y., and a half-brother, the Rev. M. B. Book of Orlando, Fla. on August 11, 1955.4

He also attended Roberts School. He was a member of Third Christian Church and Christian Men Builders Class of the church. Service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Flanner & Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and after noon Sunday. Survivor mother Mrs. Margaret Moore Book. on January 22, 1971.5
