Shirley Geraldine Pannell was buried at North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellett, Montgomery Co., Virginia.5 She was born on May 17, 1947 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.4,5 As of August 28, 1964,her married name was Cromer.4 She married Donald Gene "Don" Cromer on August 28, 1964 at Cambria, Montgomery Co., Virginia.2,3,4,5 Shirley Geraldine Pannell died on July 14, 2018 at Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 71.5 She Shirley Geraldine Pannell Cromer, 71, of Christiansburg, went home to be with her Lord in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 14, 2018 after an extended illness. Shirley was born on May 17, 1947 to the late William Robert (Bob) Pannell and Magdalene Argabright Pannell of Shawsville, Va. where she lived most of her life. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald G Cromer. Also left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Teresa Cromer Ratcliffe (Tim), of Christiansburg and Christina Cromer (Jeremy) of Elliston; as well as her two grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Nathaniel Oliver and Brianna Killgore. Shirley is also survived by her two brothers, Randy Pannell (Cindy) and Wayne Pannell (Missy); and sister-in-law, Kathy Pannell, all of Shawsville. Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Marvin Cromer of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley loved the Lord, her family and doing things for others. She attended Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church for most of her life where she will be remembered for working with Children's Church and teaching Sunday School. She retired from Moog Inc in Blacksburg where she made many friends over the years. She loved to travel whether it was family vacations to the beach or frequent trips to Pigeon Forge TN and Dollywood or just shopping for the day. Her family treasures many wonderful memories of these times together. She will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her sweet nature and her contagious laughter. The family would like to thank everyone that has prayed for Shirley during her illness and ask for continued prayers as we try to adjust to life here without her. We know that Heaven is sweeter today because she is there. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg with service there on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Blacksburg, Va. Pastor Wes Conner and Rev Richard Kingrea will be officiating. on July 16, 2018.5
