     Nancy Jewell Davis Nancy Jewell Davis DeWease, 76, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 8, 2021. She was born on March 29, 1945. She is the daughter of the late Otha Galen and Esther Payne Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Marvin Elwin DeWease, Sr. Nancy is survived by her sons, Marvin Elwin II and wife Angela of Evington, Va and Calvin Lee of the home; grandchildren, Jonathan DeWease, Kelsey Stone (Matt), Rachel Dolan, Erin Dolan; great grandsons, River and Reed Stone; and siblings, Martha Elizabeth Miller (Ernest), Galen Davis (Linda), Mary Juanita Smith, Leonard Davis (Kathy). Nancy owned and operated Nancy's Cleaning service. After retiring, she spent years with quilting and crafting. She was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church.      Pamela Frances "Pam" Bohn was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.² Her married name was DeWease.² She married Robert Dale DeWease, son of Alfred Jacob DeWease Sr. and Genevieve Martha "Geneva" Williams.^1,2 Pamela Frances "Pam" Bohn was born on May 20, 1947 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^2,3 She died on July 23, 2022 at Virginia at age 75.² She Pamela B. DeWease, 75, of Roanoke County, Va., went peacefully to her Heavenly home on Saturday, July 23, 2022, after a brief illness. She was born in Virginia on May 20, 1947, to her late parents, Francis J. and Agnes Craighead Bohn. Pam attended Northside High School. In 1965, Pam married the love of her life, Dale DeWease, and together they celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage. Pam had an outgoing, vibrant personality, and was known for her laughter. She enjoyed going on trips and traveling with her husband. Pam liked doing hobbies at home such as scrapbooking, crocheting, coloring books, and reading. She loved animals, especially the family's dogs and cats, but Pam's love of animals also extended to the wildlife that frequented the family property. Pam and Dale enjoyed having their coffee while they watched for deer, bears, squirrels, birds, and any other wildlife that ventured into their backyard. Pam is survived by her husband, Dale DeWease; beloved cat, Annie; her sister, Marsha Conner; her devoted sister-in-law, Arleigh Boyd; special nephew, Sheldon Bogaz; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on July 26, 2022.²

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Elgin Turner and Virgie Mae Turner Beasley of Pearisburg; and his brother, Horace Emory Turner of Blacksburg. After serving as Staff Sergeant in the Air Force, Mr. Turner continued his military focus in the Air Force Reserves. He was employed in Quality Control at General Electric for 33 years and was a member of the Salem Lions Club. Harold (Tom) liked to "stay busy" with activities to help his family, but he also enjoyed solitary activities including hunting, fishing, beekeeping, metal detecting and reading. He was a member of the Peters Creek Church of the Brethren. Harold is survived by his wife of 49 years, Muriel Dewease Turner; sister, Lucille Sharp and family; daughters, Carolyn Farris, Billie Reid and fiance, Bruce Campbell, Joyce Schneider and Marie Bliss and husband, David; and grandchildren, Carolyn Renee Wise, Jason Gwinn, Chris Gwinn, Holly Farris, Aaron Mayes, Jacob Mayes, Rachel Roberts, Hannah Widener, Levi Reed and Will Bliss. He has 16 great-grandchildren. Harold had a very close relationship with his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Ogretta Bayer. Viewing at Lotz Salem Chapel will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007. The funeral will take place at the Lotz Salem Chapel at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2007 officiated by Pastor Jack Lowe. After a graveside service at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, family and friends are invited to Peters Creek Church of the Brethren for a remembrance buffet. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Peters Creek Church of the Brethren or Salem Rescue Squad. on November 7, 2007.²

His wife, Ogretta Bayer preceded him in death in 2009. Surviving are his sons, D. Elliott (Kenna) and Ralph E. (Cathy) Bayer; daughter and care giver, Minnie E. Bayer all of Roanoke; also surviving are his brother, Kenneth Bayer of Wirtz; sisters, Nora Boone of Rocky Mount, Frances King of Hagerstown, Md; Julia Hess and Esther Bayer both of Waynesboro, Pa; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Carolyn Latsch. Carolyn's children were "very special grandchildren", Jennifer Latsch, Mary Ewert (Eric) and Daniel Latsch (April) along with "special great-grandchildren", Michael, Molly, Addison, and Aubrey. The family requests that those who plan to attend the service and are not fully vacinated, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.      Herman Lance DeWease was buried at Green Lawn Cemetery, Williamsport, Washington Co., Maryland.^4,8 He was born on March 29, 1922 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^2,4,5,8 He married Vivian May Norris in 1946.^2,5 Herman Lance DeWease died on August 14, 1958 at Hagerstown, Washington Co., Maryland, at age 36.^2,4,8 He Herman Lance Dewease, Wiliamsport, Rt. 1, died at the Washington County Hospital Thursday evening at 11:05 after a short illness of a heart attack, aged 36 years. He was born and raised in Roanoke County, Virginia. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Williamsport; the Ambulance Club, Williamsport; the Williamsport Firemen. A veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theatre. Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Vivian Dewease; son, Wayne Herman, at home; brothers, Douglas, Waynesboro, Route 2; Stuart Dewease, Waynesboro; Carl Dewease, Smithsburg Route 3; Lenwood Dewease, Smithsburg; Lloyd Dewease, Williamsport Rt. 1; and Freddie Dewease, Waynesboro; sisters, Mrs. Katherine Cordell, Mrs. Joann Carron and Miss Janet Dewease, all of Waynesboro. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Augustine Catholic Church Williamsport, with the Rev. Father Thomas Hardesty officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, Williamsport. The family will meet friends at the Leaf Funeral Home, Williamsport, Sunday evening from 7-9 and will meet for the saying of the rosary on Sunday at 8 p.m. on August 16, 1958.⁸

Dewease, 31, died of a sudden heart attack while at work Monday morning at the Funkhouser Company plant at Greenstone, Adams County. He was a resident of Fairfield, Route 1. Mr. Dewease was born in Glenvar, Va., a son of Monza and Pearl (Wells) Dewease. He lived at Quincy and Waynesboro, Route 2, before moving to the Fairfield area four years ago. Surviving are his mother, of Waynesboro; his wife, Mrs. Cleo (Marshall) Dewease; four daughters, Susan, Patricia, Emma Jane, and Diana Kay, all at home; seven brothers, Herman L. Dewease, of Williamsport; Carl and Linwood, both of Smithsburg, Route 2; Douglas, of Waynesboro, Route 2; Lloyd, who is serving with the U. S. Army in Newfoundland, and Stewart and Frederick Dewease, both of Waynesboro; and three sisters, Mrs. J. E. Cordell, Mrs. Joseph Caron, and Miss Janet Dewease, all of Waynesboro. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Rev. H. F. Coffelt officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Katherine Dewease Cordell, 75, of 13675 Williamsport Pike, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at her home following an extended illness. Born June 16, 1927, in Salem, Va., she was the daughter of the late Monza and Gladys Wells Dewease. Her husband, J. Edward Cordell III, died Feb. 2, 1991. They were marred March 16, 1949. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Waynesboro, Pa., where she was a member of King's Daughters Sunday School class and Keenagers. She is survived by seven sons, John M. Cordell, Garry R. Cordell and Daniel L. Cordell, all of Greencastle, Larry J. Cordell of McConnellsburg, Pa., Stephen M. Cordell of Hagerstown, Timothy E. Cordell of Clear Spring, and James A. Cordell of Chambersburg, Pa; one daughter, Bonnie M. Yoder of Greencastle; two brothers, Stuart Dewease of Waynesboro, and Frederick Dewease of Florida; two sisters, JoAnn Caron of Burlington, N.C., and Janet Stone of Hagerstown; 21 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he is survived by daughters, Virginia, Christine and Yvonne, all at home; sons, Darrell, Carl Ellis Jr., Randy, Dean, Jody, all at home, sisters, Mrs. Kathryne Cordell, Shady Grove, Pa; Mrs. Jo Ann Caron, Mrs. Janet Shaeffer, both of Waynesboro; brothers, Douglas, Waynesboro; Lynwood, Smithsburg; Stewart, and Lloyd, Fred, all of Waynesboro, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren Wednesday at 2 p.m. the Rev. Albert Huston officiating. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery. Tbe body may be viewed at the Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro until noon Wednesday and at the church one hour prior to the services. The family will meet friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
