He was born February 14, 1930, in Roane County, West Virginia, a son of the late John and Ledona Groves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Delores; a daughter, Virginia Ann; a brother, Warren Blaine; and a sister, Doris Maxine May. He is survived by three sons, Stephen (Gloria), Mark (Francis), and David (Debbie); 5 grandchildren, Daniel, Jauhn, Dalton, Derek and Samantha; one great-grandchild, Isaac; and a brother, Charles (Ruth). Oral was a member of the Fifth Street Church of Christ in Huntington, West Virginia. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He retired from the Kroger Company after 40 years of service. A graveside service will be conducted at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup, Kentucky, by Jaime Leonard. Military rites will be performed by Kenova American Legion Post 95. Reed Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.      William Worth Paxton was buried at Witcher Cemetery, Witcher Creek Road, off Rt. 60, Belle, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2,5,6 He was born on July 28, 1868 at Dickinson, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1,2 He married Fannie Markham on April 20, 1890.1,2,7 William Worth Paxton died on January 12, 1940 at Ronda, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 71.1,2,6 He Rev. C. F. Howell will conduct funeral services at the Witcher Creek Baptist church for William Paxton, who died Friday night after a long illness at the home of a son, Tom Paxton of Ronda. The Bartlelt and Wynns mortuary at Belle will have charge in Witcher Creek cemetery. Also surviving Mr. Paxton are four daughters, Mrs. Donald Boyd of Quincy, Mrs. J. E. Chambers, Sr., and Mrs. Tina Sollenberger, both of Leevale, and Mrs. Jack Beverlin of Coalburg; two other sons, Sam Paxton of Dry Branch and Charlie Paxton of Coalburg; six sisters, Mrs. Sarah Motley of Middleport, O., Mrs. Virgie White and Mrs. Julia Hammonds, both of Quincy, Mrs. Mary Withrow and Mrs. Maggie Keeney, both of Witcher's Creek and Mrs. Hetty Hemmings of Belle, and two brothers, Ceph Paxton of Shrewsbury and John Paxton of Witcher's Creek. on January 14, 1940.6

Mrs. Hemmings was a member of the Judson Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Walter Ashley, Mrs. Paul Combo and Mrs. Meg Gregg of Belle and Mrs. Thelma Sheets of Chicago; three sons, Garnet at home, the Rev. Ira L. of St. Marys and John of Belle; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Motley of Middleport, Ohio, and Mrs. Julia Hammonds and Mrs. Virgie White of Quincy; a brother Cephas Paxton of Shrewsbury; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Witcher Creek Cemetery. on July 17, 1961.4
