She was born February 28, 1937 to Nelson and Gladys (Radford) Ingram in Floyd, Virginia. Norma Jean married William C. Simpson December 3, 1960, who preceded her in death in 1992. Along with being an active military wife and mother, Norma Jean had 40 years of civil service with 34 years at Fort Leavenworth. Survivors include two sons, William C. Simpson Jr. (Diane), Kansas City, Missouri, Stephen Simpson, Wichita, Kansas, two grandchildren, Will Simpson, Josie Simpson and one sister, Linda Short, Roanoke, Virginia. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. on April 30, 2015.³
