     Duane Rawlin Dewey Duane Rawlin Dewey, 69, of Morro Bay died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at his residence. A memorial service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Morro Bay. Burial is at the Los Osos Valley Memorial Park in Los Osos. Mr. Dewey was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Glendale. He served in the Marines in the 1950s and worked at March Air Force Base after being honorably discharged. A talented illustrator and designer, he designed the first jet-propelled Bonneville race car which may be seen at Harrah's Automotive Museum in Reno, Nev. He also designed stage scenery for the Civic Light Opera group in San Bernardino before moving to the Central Coast. He owned and operated Pacific Marine in San Luis Obispo for 26 years. Mr. Dewey spent many years working with various Scout groups and church youth groups and was a member of Kiwani's International. He was also a Sunday School teacher for the LDS Church. Mr. Dewey is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Pace Dewey of Los Osos; children, Dawn Dewey of Irvine, Glenn Dewey of San Diego, Gail Berry of Fort Worth, Texas, June Engle of Oceanside, and Mary Ernst of Adelanto; and 16 grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Mrs. McClure was born Sept. 27, 1866 at Urbana, Ohio to John and Mary (Stevenson) Miller. She moved with her family when she was 18 to Fall River Co., South Dakota where they homesteaded. She was married to John Fremont McClure in 1886 and they came to Notus, Idaho in 1904. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include 2 sons; Edward, Boise and Mark, Caldwell; 2 daughters: Mrs. Mary B. Anderson, Nampa and Mrs. Alice Moore, Caldwell; 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 23 great, great grandchildren. on November 26, 1962.2

He attended schools in Notus and went to the Idaho Industrial Institute in Weiser. He married Hazel Rhode in 1934 at Payette. They had since resided in Caldwell. Mrs. McClure died on April 19, 1969, in Boise. He had worked for the Caldwell Ice and Coal Co. and for the Andy Little Sheep Co. of Emmett. He did construction work for 10 years for Morrison-Knudsen Co. and worked at Yellowstone Park. He had also been employed by Utah Construction of Salt Lake City. Surviving are two sisters, Mary B. Anderson, Nampa, and Alice Moore, Caldwell; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. on August 12, 1974.1

Mrs. Streeter Stroup for many years a resident of Washoe passed away Friday, July 11th, after a lingering illness. She had been in failing health for several years and was taken seriously ill some two months ago. Mrs. Stroup was one of the most highly respected ladies of Washoe, where she had lived for many years and was a member of the Washoe Afternoon club, taking an active part in all social events and where her presence will be missed by many warm friends. She was born at Edgemont, South Dakota, February 18, 1891 and came to Idaho with her parents when 12 years of age and settled at Notus, Idaho. She was united in marriage to Streeter Stroup of Payette in 1916, and has since made her home in Washoe on their ranch. Besides her husband she is survived by four children, John Jacob, age 12; Loise, 11 years of age; Betty, 8 and Annabel 6. She is also survived by a mother, two sisters and two brothers. Her mother and sisters were with her at the time of her death. Funeral services were held from the home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Higgler of Ontario, pastor of the Congregational church, where a large number of sorrowing friends gathered to pay their last respects and where many beautiful floral offerings were in evidence of her high esteem. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery. on July 17, 1930.4
