Elizabeth Anne Poff Elizabeth “Anne” Walsh passed away on January 16, 2021. She was born in Damascus, VA, to the late Earl Ralph Poff and Elizabeth Smythe Poff. In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband Thomas Wills Walsh, Jr. She was a graduate of Damascus High School, a member of the Red Hat Society, a homemaker and business owner of Greever and Walsh. She loved Flower Gardening and Reading. She attended First Christian Church. She loved helping people while working at the Johnson County Election Commission. Those left to cherish her memory include; Stephanie Walsh and Robert DePinto, of Naples FL, Sharon Walsh Reece and Noah of Johnson City, and Susan Walsh Rosas and Mario of Lenior, NC. Brother; Tommy Poff and Brother in law Dick Walsh. Grandchildren; Samantha Dollar, and A.J. And Mattie Reece. Great Grandchildren; Everleigh and Emmaleigh Dollar. Special friends; Joe and Darlene Atwood, Mary Sue Walsh, Judy and Bill McGuire, Evelyn Cooke, Butch Walsh, Deena Wiley, Peggy and Buster Brown and Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.2 She was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, Johnson Co., Tennessee.6,3 She was born on August 18, 1940 at Damascus, Washington Co., Virginia.2,4 As of May 28, 1960,her married name was Walsh.2,5 She married Thomas Wills Walsh Jr. on May 28, 1960 at Mountain City, Washington Co., Tennessee.2,3,5 Elizabeth Anne Poff died on January 16, 2021 at Tennessee at age 80.2

Thomas Wills Walsh Jr. Thomas Wills "Tommy" Walsh, Jr., age 76, of Blowing Rock, N.C. passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 surrounded by family and friends following an extended illness. Mr. Walsh was born in Banner Elk, N.C. to the late Thomas Wills Walsh, Sr. and Evelyn Virginia Greever Walsh. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walsh was preceded in death by his Uncle, Steadman Greever. At the time of his death, Mr. Walsh was the Assistant Director of the Sustainable Development and Outreach Program at Appalachian State University, the oldest Sustainable Development program in the country. He was a businessman in Mountain City, TN and area communities for many decades. He owned Greever & Walsh Wholesale, Walsh & Walsh Printing, Rainbow Paper and Mill and Fabric Outlet for which he came up with his favorite slogan, "The best kept secret in Tennessee." Mr. Walsh was also one of the primary members involved in many community development projects, including: one of the original founders of the Johnson County Welcome Center, Elk Knob Conservancy Organization, A.S.U. Outreach, Cove Creek Community Center, Chairman of Johnson County Tourism Board, reopening the old Johnson County Hospital, building the first nursing home in Johnson County and founder of Trade Days. Tommy was also founder of the Doc Watson Music Festival as well as Johnson County Nature Conservancy. For many years he served as the Chairman of the Johnson County Democratic Party, and was the longest serving chairman in the State of Tennessee. Tommy was a United States Army Veteran and a member of First Christian Church of Mountain City, TN. He loved spending time with and enjoying the company of his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Walsh had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, golf and A.S.U. football. Survivors include his wife: Elizabeth Anne Poff Walsh, Mountain City, TN; daughters: Stephanie Alheid and husband Harry, Gulf Shores, AL; Sharon Reece and husband Noah, Johnson City, TN and Susan Walsh, Hickory, N.C; grandchildren: Mattie Reece, Johnson City, TN; Samantha Cornett, Mountain City, TN and Hayes Alheid, Gulf Shores AL; brother Richard "Dick" Walsh and wife Judy, Mountain City, TN; brother- in- law, Tommy Poff, Damascus, VA. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. In addition to his family, Mr. Walsh had several special friends: Jack Simpson, Richard Wolfe, Jeff Boyer, Joe Sherwood, Danny Herman, Joe Atwood, George Wilson, Bill Bower and Dr. Sandra Lubarsky. Military graveside service and entombment will be conducted in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum of Love accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Roy was an early riser and a hard worker. This was evident in his 53 years as manager of Snyder's Ashland Service Station on Spring Street in Charleston. Since his retirement, he still left home early everyday to meet the world and visit friends. He loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette; his parents, Hubert and Mary Bostic; brother, Howard; and sister, Glada Bonham. He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Randy) Hill and Pam (Dave) Graham; grandchildren, Mike (fiancee, Lindsey) Hill, Christopher (Bridget) May, Lynnette Nunley, and Christy (Jeremy) Jeffers; and great-granddaughter, Emma Nunley. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Green officiating. Burial service will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Surviving: children, Kathryn (Richard) Phillips of Vienna, Ill., Christine (Rick) Rose of Roanoke, Va., James Norman Eads Jr. of Vienna Ill., Jennie M. (Monty) Wallace of Chesapeake, and Michael J. Eads of Toledo, Ohio; stepchildren, Harold (Linda) Harper of Cincinnati, Ohio, April (Ronnie) Moore of Hobe Sound, Fla., Angie (Todd) Higginbotham of Winfield and Kelly (Jeff) Moonshower of Marietta, Ga; brother, Ray Eads of North Carolina and Jack Eads of Pennsylvania; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul G. Cogar Sr. officiating. Stalnaker, 97 of Charleston, WV passed away January 19, 2018 in the VA Medical Center. Mr. Stalnaker is preceded in death by his children Lona Akers, Michael Stalnaker and Lee Allen Stalnaker. He is survived by his children Larry Edward Stalnaker, Gene Stalnaker and Linda Lopresti. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Special thanks to the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, OH for the outstanding care given to Mr. Stalnaker. Akers Jr., and Christopher Akers and wife Tina; brothers Larry and Gene Stalnaker; grandchildren, Keshia Neal, Jordon Akers, Alana Newman, Eileen Atkinson, Sandy Werner and Christa Hales; and six great-grandchildren. A tribute to the life of Mrs. Lona J. Akers will be 3 p.m. December 16, at Freedom Promise Ministries, Fraziers Bottom, with Pastor Sherry Shamblin officiating. Entombment will be in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens. on December 13, 2017.3
