He was a member of the Seneca Baptist Church and loved his family, racing, the outdoors, hunting and sitting by the fire. He is survived by his wife, Jean Trump; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Lee and Gwendolyn Trump of Maynardville, Tenn; daughter and son-in-law, Revonda Jean and Greg Walters of Ironto; son and daughter-in-law, Mark Steven and Judy Trump of Ironto; six grandchildren, Steven, Angel, Kim, Joshua, Travis, and Joey; great-grandson, Cameron; two sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy Lester of Salem, Mary Lee and M. L. "Pug" Wells of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Seneca Baptist Church with Pastor V. N. McHone officiating. Interment will follow in Den Hill Cemetery. She was born March 3, 1910,the daughter of Jacob Oakley and Viola Ellen Poff Helm. She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Wyatt Epperly, Sr. and seven brothers. Surviving family include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Epperly of Hardy; daughters and sons-in-law, Serita and Charles Fry of Roanoke, Delores and Harold Hall of Roanoke, Willa and Dan Angle of Rocky Mount and Tressia Detrich of Daleville; grandsons, Michael Fry of Roanoke, Stephen and wife, Karen of Stuart, Christopher and wife, India of Moneta and Andrew Angle of Rocky Mount; great-granddaughters, Connor, Piper and Skylar Epperly of Stuart; great-grandsons, Charlie and Andon Epperly of Moneta; sister-in-law, Lillian Helm of Elliston. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with the Rev. Ken Nienke and Dr. Michael Curry officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 8, 2005 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to Meals on Wheels and the staff, doctors and nurses at Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home in Roanoke. Arrangements by John M. He was retired from the V.A. Medical Center in Salem, with 30 years service. He was also, employed by the Montgomery County Schools and N & W Railroad, both with service of nine years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Viola Helm, six brothers, Eural, Garland, Jacob, Jr., Freddie, Clyde and Paul Helm. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Lillian Starkey Helm; son and daughter-in-law, Monroe (Jay) and Susan Helm, Salem; two daughters and son-in-law, Shelby Bowles, Cindy and Gary Hale, all of Elliston; four grandchildren, Jason and Eric Helm, Lindsey Hale and Zachary Bowles; one sister, Earnestine Epperly, Salem; numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends, and a very special and devoted friend, Charles Bryant. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 1997, at the Elliston Church of God, Elliston, Va., with the Rev. Ronald King officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, with Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends Monday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shawsville Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 14, Shawsville, Va. 24162. The family will also like to thank all the staff with HOUSECALL of Salem. on July 28, 1997.2
