She was born in Beckley, WV and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1953. She was preceded in death by her parents Basil and Alma (Lilly) Pittman, her husbands Thomas "Mickey" Rodes and Richard Wendelken. Also, her sisters Doris Riedlinger and Patty Reid, as well as her in laws Timmy Rodes and Ellen Pruett. Shirley is survived by her children Jerry Rodes, Pamela (John) Dolinger and Michael (Leslie) Rodes; step children Steve (Chris) Wendelken, Rick Wendelken, Debbie Nelson and Joy Levio. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Barbara Hamilton and Mary Maxey, and a sister-in-law Sue Nazworth. Many nieces, nephews and others she treated as grandchildren including Andy Brooker and his children. Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 1:30 PM. Friends may visit with the family from 11:30 AM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home. He was a 1976 graduate of Shady Spring High School and received his master?s degree in 1982 from Marshall University and was a member of Marshall Alumni Association of Lexington. He was employed by GlaxoSmithKline as a senior executive sales representative. He was very active in reclamation of wildlife habitat. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, at Beaver First Baptist Church with the Rev. Allan Copenhaver and the Rev. Ron McClung officiating. Wayne Mason and Miss Molly Canaday, both of Beckley; Mrs. Geraldine Mullens of Washington, D.C; Mrs. Joe (Mildred) Carter of Charleston; a half sister, Mrs. Althea White of Roanoke, Va; three brothers, Larry of Crab Orchard; Bastine of Chase, Md; Obal of Salem, N.J; and one half brother, Wesley Canaday of Lester. Burial will be in the Vine Grove cemetery and the body is at the Stovall Funeral Home in Vine Grove. on January 6, 1966.8 He died on January 4, 1967 at Huntingburg, Dubois Co., Indiana, at age 48.2,4
