Robert Loren Hill was buried at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Road, Boise, Ada Co., Idaho.2,3 His Social Security Number was 519-18-8863.6 He was born on April 6, 1921 at Gooding, Gooding Co., Idaho.1,6,2,3 He married Frances Aletha Finney on March 22, 1943 at Gooding, Gooding Co., Idaho.2,3 Robert Loren Hill died on August 26, 2008 at Boise, Ada Co., Idaho, at age 87.6,2,3 He Robert L. Hill, 87, of Boise, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 of natural causes. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 29 at Dry Creek Cemetery. Robert was born on April 6, 1921 in Gooding, Idaho to Flossie and Roy Hill. Roy was a professional photographer and passed his knowledge onto Robert who was an avid photographer all of his life. Robert attended schools in Gooding. During high school, he was a member of Troop A, 116th Calvary of the National Guard. It was in Gooding that he met Aletha Finney, the only love of his life. They married in Gooding in 1943 and shared 65 years together. Robert enlisted in the Army in 1943. He was shipped to South Carolina where he and Aletha started their family with a son, Bill, who was born in 1945. After his discharge, Robert returned to Boise and moved to the North End where he resided until his death. Here, his other two children, Barbara and Robert, Jr., were born. He went to work for the Idaho Transportation Department and retired after 38 years of dedicated service. The ultimate family man, Robert took his family on camping adventures around the state. He never passed up a hot springs, swimming hole, or ice cream shop. After he retired, he and Aletha toured the United States in their travel trailer. After the traveling was over, they took the trailer to McCall where they spent their summers at Lakeview Village overlooking Payette Lake. Photography was his passion, and in his seventies, he enrolled in a photography class at BSU. He was always looking for a new camera or a bigger and better lens. His family both endured and enjoyed his annual family photo shoots. Robert had a quick wit and was not afraid to share it. His ability for a quick come-back was uncanny. He could recite Robert Service poems from memory and entertained his family and friends with his humorous stories of growing up in Gooding. He was a staunch Republican in spite of his family's efforts to persuade him otherwise. Most of all, he loved to be surrounded by his family. His good nature and sense of humor will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elvel Hill; and daughter-in-law, Sandy Hill. He is survived by his beloved wife, Aletha; his son, Bill (Jo) of Boise and Bob (Kathy) of McCall; his daughter, Barbara (Ken) Folwell of Boise; grandsons, Pat (Andra), Tim (Marty Jo) Folwell, Brad, and Bryan (Michelle) Hill; great-grandchildren, Riley, Taylor, Cole, Ben, and Max Folwell and Hailey Parrie; and a very special friend, Betty Stadler. on August 28, 2008.3
