Survivors include a son, Dewey E. “Bud” Kirby Jr. of Glen Alpine, N.C; a daughter, Lula Edith Kirby Bradley of Glen Alpine; an adopted son, Everett Lonnie Kirby of Morganton; an adopted daughter, Lula Mae Kirby Patton of Florida; two stepdaughters, Mary Altizer of Baltimore and Betty Wade of Canebrake; five brothers, Cecil Smith and Thomas Smith, both of Indianapolis, Jack Smith of Alderson, Elliot Smith of Clayton and Daniel Smith of Alderson; four sisters, Grace Persinger, Clara Persinger and Leota Cantley, all of Pence Springs, and Ida Bennett of Lebanon, Tenn; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous step great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with the Rev. Roger Persinger officiating. Burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery. on February 24, 1999.3

She moved to Burns, Kansas in 2000, and attended the Burns United Methodist, Burns Countryside Church and then Central Community Church upon moving to Wichita. She loved ceramics, sewing, flower gardening, reading her Bible and watching Charles Stanley on television. Her loving family includes her son and his wife, Ordie “Sonny” (Carolyn) Sigmon of Beckley, West Virginia; daughter and her husband, Sherry and Joe Vestring of Wichita; daughter, Brenda Burwell of Newton, Kansas; grandchildren, Alisa (Krassi) Damianov of Wichita, Bryan (Rachael) Tarr of Fort Worth, Texas, Sunny Sue Sigmon and Jacob Sigmon all of Beckley, West Virginia; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Andrew, David, Jeremy and Elainey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1977; son, Gene Sigmon; grandson, Walter E. Arndt III, and ten siblings. Eileen passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at the age of 96 years old. Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the Burns Cemetery in Burns, Kansas with Chaplain Tal Tittsworth with Good Shepherd Hospice officiating. on April 7, 2020.3
