He read and studied a wide range of subjects, and when his children were in college and could not find a textbook, it was usually because he was reading it. He will be missed by all who knew him, whenever we walk in the woods, or near a beach, or hear any music from the era of the big bands. Greatly loved, he will be greatly missed. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. A funeral service will be held at the United Presbyterian Church, 2819 Hudson Dr., Cuyahoga Falls, at 11 a.m. Friday, Dr. Richard A. Hasler officiating. A Masonic service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Georgia was born July 10, 1923 in Clendenin, living the majority of her life in South Charleston. She worked in the men's department at Frankenberger's and Schawbe-May. She later became the first meter maid in South Charleston. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Leora Babcock; and husbands, T.H. Cobbs Sr. and Thomas Hines. She is survived by her son, Thurman Cobbs and his wife, Virginia, of South Charleston; stepdaughter, Joyce Ciliberti of South Charleston; grandson, Randall Cobbs and wife, Katie, of South Charleston; great-grandsons, Ian and Owen Cobbs of South Charleston; sisters, Gay Moore of Eustis, Fla., and Neva Jarvis of Lady Lake; and brother, George Babcock Jr. of Columbus, Ohio. The family would like to thank Georgia's caregivers, her niece, Becky, and sister, Neva Jarvis, for all their love, care and compassion. A memorial service to honor the life of Georgia will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, with Pastor Ron Schlak Jr. officiating. After graduation, she was employed with C & P Telephone Company as a toll and overseas operator. She served as Service Assistant Training Operator and Administrative Assistant to the Division Traffic Manager. Sara married the love of her life, Jack Dempsey Burlingame, in June of 1956. They started their life in Clarksburg, WV, where they adopted two little baby girls, Tracey Sue and Holli Mae. Sara was a devoted wife and mother and a contributor to her community serving as Camp Fire Girls troop leader, Sunday school teacher, PTA parent, Treasurer to Senator Karen Facemire, Charter member of the Jackson County Pilot Club, and President of the Mountain Craft Art & Craft Fair in 1998-1999. Sara is survived by her brother, Irvin VanMeter Junior (Mrs. Nancy VanMeter) of Charleston, and her daughter, Holli (Mr. Brocklin Vanater); grandchildren, Christine, Heather, Joshua, and Sara; great grandchildren, River, Jack, Ella, Noah, and Sage; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Mattie Mae; infant son, Stephen Drew; daughter, Tracey; and husband of 53 years, Jack D. Burlingame. Mrs. Poff was the first woman in the country to carry mail by horseback. She started delivering mail in 1928 at St. Albans, W.Va., and continued for several years. Later she examined documents that were submitted for trademark to the federal Commerce Department in Washington. She retired in 1965. Her husband, James Murray Poff, died in 1953. She is survived by two sons, Richard C., of Crystal Springs, Fla., and Col. Edward H., of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Carol J. Shulley of Carpenters Point, Md., and Patricia Ann Frese of Washington, D.C; two sisters, Laura Roman of Pekin, Ill., and Tempie Grogan of St. Albans; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Parklawn Cemetery, Rockville. on July 19, 1978.2

     Edward Harold Poff was buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas.6,7,2 He was born on April 9, 1922 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1,6,2 He married Winifred Louise Gordon circa 1946.8 Edward Harold Poff died on September 30, 2012 at San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas, at age 90.6,7,2 He Lt. Col. Edward H. Poff USAF (Ret) age 90 of San Antonio died Sunday September 30 2012. He began his 29 year military career as a co-pilot on a B-24 Liberator in Europe during World War II and went on to serve multiple tours as Deputy Base Commander as well as Personnel Officer for the AF Electronic Security Command. He blessed his family with travel and adventure with stations all across the US as well as Germany Japan Pakistan Greece and Thailand. After retiring from the Air Force in 1976 Edward attended St. Philip's College earning an AAS summa cum laude in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration. Of his many hobbies fishing was his passion. He enjoyed teaching all of his children to fish and appreciate the Texas coast. Edward's love of his family humility humor and great kindness will be sincerely missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters. Survivors are his loving wife of 66 years Winifred L. Poff; children, Constance Carter, Laurence Poff & wife Sandy, David Poff & wife Kyong, Stephen Poff, Timothy Poff & wife Kathy, Sally Poff, Catherine Morales & husband Jose, and Kenneth Poff & wife Elizabeth; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Interment in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. on October 7, 2012.7
