Burleigh A. and Gertrude R. Leffler Peters. On January 15, 1956, she married Robert C. Kunes, who died January 13, 1980. She was a graduate of the former Lock Haven High School and earned her teaching degree from the former Lock Haven State Teachers College. She was a devoted elementary teacher and educator for more than 30 years with the Keystone Central School District. She touched lives too numerous to mention, as did her husband Robert. She was an active member of the former St. Johns Lutheran Church where her father served as pastor, which later became St. John's United Lutheran Church and is now the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Lock Haven State College Alumni Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, and the Pennsylvania State Retired Educators Association. She was also a member of the Rowin Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, card playing, bingo and had a special place in her heart for her pets. She is survived by three sons, William B. and his wife Mary of Blair, Neb., James Robert of Manhattan, NY, and David R. of Lock Haven; one brother, James B. Peters and his wife Peg of Kutztown; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Mary Bianchi Kunes, Marjorie Poorman and Barbara Caraway; two cousins, Dr. David Leffler and Dr. Richard Leffler, and numerous nieces and nephews and devoted friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John D. Kunes. A memorial service will be held at the United Evangelical Lutheran Church, First and Church Streets, Lock Haven, on Thursday April 6, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Private burial services will be at the convenience of the family in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County SPCA or the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Moriarty-Dutcavich Funeral Home, Lock Haven. on April 6, 2006.1

     John Dewey Kunes was buried at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania.1,2 He was born on February 13, 1965 at Scott Air Force, Illinois.1 He died on July 26, 1986 at Selinsgrove, Snyder Co., Pennsylvania, at age 21.1 He A Lock Haven man was killed in a two vehicle collision on Routes 11-15 near Selinsgrove early Saturday. Four others were injured in the crash, which occurred near the Hoover's Landing access to the Susquehanna River. John Dewey Kunes, 21, of 1 Meadowlark Drive, Lock Haven, was pronounced dead at the scene by Snyder County Coroner Harle E. Hassinger. Hassinger said that death was due to a broken neck and crushed chest and that Kunes must have died instantly. The accident occurred at 5:35 a.m. as Kunes, driving a pickup truck, crossed into the southbound lane, where his truck crashed into a vehicle driven by Donald A. Bruder of Montoursville R.D. 2. Bruder, His daughter Michelle, 12, his son Scott, 9, and his wife Cecelia, 34, were injured. Cecelia was admitted to the Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport, after being transferred from Lewisburg Evangelical Community Hospital where the other family members were treated. Mr. Kunes was born on February 13, 1965 at Scott Air Force base in Illinois, the son of Janet Peters Kunes of Dunnstown and the late "Robert" C. Kunes, who died in 1980. A 1983 graduate of Lock haven High School, he worked for Burger King in Lock Haven for two years. He had been attending Lock haven University as a sophomore majoring in chemistry and had worked as a circuit board technician in Rockville, MD for the past two months. Mr. Kunes played the drums for many years. Surviving, along with his mother, are three brothers, William B. Kunes of Blair, NE; James R. Kunes of Elmira, NY; and David R. Kunes of Lock Haven; Paternal grandmother Mrs. S. Dewey Kunes of Avis; Two nieces, three nephews and several aunts and uncles. Funeral Announcement - Rest Haven memorial Park, Moriarty-Dutcavich Funeral Home. on July 28, 1986.1

Kimes, who preceded her in death. She is survived by two sisters, Isabel E. Miller of Howard RD 1 and Violet Peters of Blanchard, and one brother, George J. Ertley of Bellefoote. Mrs. Kunes was employed at the Blanchard plant of the Woolrich Woolen Mills and was formerly employed by Sylvania Electric Company of Mill Hall. She had also been a cook and waitress at several restaurants in Centre and Clinton Counties. Private funeral services will be in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, Howard, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Brinton Simmons officiating. Burial will be n Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township. on September 28, 1981.1
