He was educated in Mercer County, was a veteran of World War II, and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army for more than 13 years. Mr. Terry had a career with the Norfolk & Western and the Norfolk Southern railways spanning over 30 years, retiring in 1985 as a mechanic. He was a member of the maintenance of ways. He was a member of the First Church of God on Mahood Avenue in Princeton. He attended the First Baptist Church in Princeton. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen and a former member of the Princeton Elks Lodge No. 1459 and the Princeton Moose Lodge No. 1521. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a paratrooper with the U.S. Army. He was a very loving and devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Harry and Pauline Terry; and one brother, Wayne Terry. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty Jean Robertson Terry of Princeton; one daughter, Donna Jackson of Princeton; two granddaughters, Lisa Williams and Julie Jackson; four brothers, Jimmy Terry and wife, Virginia, J.D. She was retired from the Mercer County School System where she served 12 years as a cook at Oakvale School and Mercer Elementary School in Princeton. She was a member of the Oakvale United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Mercer County Schools Service Personnel Organization. Her husband of 53 years, William R. Brinkley; one son, William Guy Brinkley; two brothers, John A. Terry Jr. and Wayne Terry; and two sisters, Pauline Terry and Juanita Harry preceded her in death. He attended Oakvale United Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in action. He had been a lifelong resident of the Oakvale area. Ronald Wayne Terry of Oakvale and Flem White of Georgia were killed instantly when they apparently attempted to pass a tractor trailer in the car driven by Terry and ran into the back of the trailer on Interstate 75 near Macon, Ga. White was a passenger in the car. Funeral services for Ronald Wayne Terry will be conducted Thursday. Burial will follow in the Oakvale Cemetery. He was the son of Mrs. Lula Terry of Oakvale, and the late John A. Terry. One sister, Pauline Terry, preceded him in death. Survivors other than his mother, include five brothers, James and Tommy Terry of the home, John Jr. and J. D. Born February 22, 1948 in Princeton, he was the son of the late John A. Terry and Lula Cooper Terry. He was of the Protestant faith and had been a resident of this area all of his life. Tommy lived a rewarding and comfortable life even though he had been challenged since birth. In addition to his parents, four sisters, Pauline Terry, Edna Terry, Joyce Brinkley, and Juanita Harry; and three brothers, James Terry, Wayne Terry and John A. Terry, Jr. preceded him in death. Survivors include one sister, Penny Sue Staubb and husband Ron of Salisburg, Md; two brothers, Kirby Terry and wife Margie of Princeton and Jack Terry and wife Evon of Johnson City, Tenn; sister-in-law, Virginia Terry of Athens; and special nephew, Randall Harry of Oakvale.
