Yates, 20, of Sophia, who died at a local hospital Thursday afternoon. The Rev. R. H. Kennedy and the Rev. Dewey Wilson will officiate at rites at the Sophia Methodist Church. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Yates, of Sophia, two sisters, Doris and Norma, and one brother, Waldon, all at home. Active pallbearers are Harold Dodson, Ray MeAdoo, Buck Woods, Stewart Deck, Red Denny and Billy Thornley. Members of the Methodist Youth Group will act as flower bearers. The Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. on April 18, 1947.6

Mann Jr., 67, of Amherst, died Aug. 17 at his home from natural causes. Born in Fireco, W. Va., he grew up in Raleigh County, W. Va., and graduated from Stoco High School in 1947. He moved to Elyria in 1953 and he lived there for 20 years. From 1973 to 1978, he made his home in Avon Lake, and for the past 19 years had lived in Amherst. Mr. Mann was a meat cutter by profession. From 1956 to 1976, he was employed by the Kroger Grocery Co., working in various stores in Lorain County as a meat cutter, store manager and district manager. From 1978 to 1986, he owned and operated Mann's Meat Market in South Amherst. He also worked as a meat cutter for the Convenient Food Mart in Lorain. He was a member of Victory Baptist Temple in Elyria. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and helping others. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Emma J. [nee Porter]; sons, Gary R. of Elyria, Jeffrey A. of Oberlin, and Roy T. McDavid of Amherst; a daughter, Rhoda G. Linger of Lorain; nine grandchildren; a brother Terry A. Mann of Elyria; sisters, Dorothy Price and Carol Grahovac, both of Elyria, and Pat Treadway of Oberlin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey E. Sr. and Elsie J. [nee Terry]; a son, Dewey E. Mann III; and a granddaughter, Deanna McDavid. Burial was in the Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst. on August 27, 1997.4
