Schleyhahn, 82, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born February 26, 1928, the daughter of Lynn E. and Margaret E. (Owens) Thornton Sr. She married Harry E. Schleyhahn in 1956 and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Shane. Mrs. Schleyhahn worked for the Bressmer Department Store and later for the Illinois Secretary of State as a Key Punch Operator. She retired in 1993. She is survived by her children, Daniel (wife, Lily Gannon) Fisher of Prescott, AZ, Karen Gum (companion, Fredd Brust), Diana Schleyhahn and Joe Schleyhahn, all of Springfield; five grandchildren, Joie, Erica, Aaron, Ryan and Greg; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, James Thornton, Russell (wife, Betty) Thornton, Lynn E. Thornton Jr., all of Springfield, and Harry Thornton (companion, Joyce) of Pawnee. She has several nieces, nephews and cousins. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. on July 13, 2010.1
