A Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Whitlock officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. before service time. Following the service, a dinner will be provided at the Park Ridge Development Clubhouse, Copper Hill, Va. on June 18, 2017.²

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday at Thornrose Cemetery by the Rev. Robert F. Holley. on March 28, 1998.²

(Owens) Thornton Sr. She married Harry E. Schleyhahn in 1956 and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Shane. Mrs. Schleyhahn worked for the Bressmer Department Store and later for the Illinois Secretary of State as a Key Punch Operator. She retired in 1993. She is survived by her children, Daniel (wife, Lily Gannon) Fisher of Prescott, AZ, Karen Gum (companion, Fredd Brust), Diana Schleyhahn and Joe Schleyhahn, all of Springfield; five grandchildren, Joie, Erica, Aaron, Ryan and Greg; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, James Thornton, Russell (wife, Betty) Thornton, Lynn E. Thornton Jr., all of Springfield, and Harry Thornton (companion, Joyce) of Pawnee. She has several nieces, nephews and cousins. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. on July 13, 2010.¹
