Jack found joy in his family, square dancing, and key chain collecting, along with crafting and donating toys to children's hospitals and organizations with other members of the S.D. Fine Woodworkers Assn. He also served the club yearly at the S.D. County Fair, "Design in Wood" Exhibit, welcoming visitors and answering questions. Services will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Heartland Masonic Lodge at 695 Ballantyne Street, El Cajon. on July 5, 2009.3

She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Vest Thayer of Christiansburg, Va; son, Allen David Vest III and daughter-in-law, Ellen Vest of Floyd, Va; granddaughter, Dr. Marcee Vest Berry and her husband, Garrett Berry of Richmond, Va; great-granddaughter, Ollie Belle Berry of Richmond; sister, Mary Nell Pauley of McCoy and brother-in-law, Don Croy of Blacksburg, Va; seven nieces and nephews and their spouses, including Peggy Ann Vest Mentel of Roanoke, Va. The family would like to thank the staff at Skyline Nursing and Rehab Center for their care of Susie Belle over the four last years. They also acknowledge the important services of the Good Samaritan Hospice staff that supported her family. Burial at the family grounds in Harvestwood Cemetery. on September 13, 2018.2
