Stephen L. "Steve" Luzar1,2,3

M, b. July 16, 1933, d. March 15, 2019
Stephen L. "Steve" Luzar was buried at Girard Liberty Union Cemetery, 1143 N. State Street, Girard, Trumbull Co., Ohio.3 He Stephen L. Luzar, 85, passed away Friday morning, March 15, 2019, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren following a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Stephen was born July 16, 1933, in Girard, a son of the late Frank and Mary Bisada Luzar, and lived in the area for most of his life. He was a 1953 graduate of Girard High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation, serving as a mechanic in Greenland during the Korean War. After his service in the military, he worked at the Brainard Rivet Company for many years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Harvest Point Church of God in Lordstown. Mr. Luzar was also a member of SNPJ Lodge No. 643 in Girard, and greatly enjoyed visiting the SNPJ Recreation Center in Enon Valley, Pa. on the weekends. Steve was a man of many talents. He was a master woodworker and started making furniture while in high school. Many members of his family have beautiful hand-crafted pieces in their homes that will be cherished for many years. Mr. Luzar was also an excellent bowler and golfer. His greatest talent, though, was playing the button box accordion at which he was self-taught. Steve taught many friends and family members throughout his lifetime how to play the button box, and his idol was Slak, whom he had the opportunity to meet years ago. Steve also enjoyed traveling. His favorite trip was to Yugoslavia on a concert tour in 1982, where he had the opportunity to perform for the Slovenian people. Mr. Luzar truly enjoyed his family and friends, especially his grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Steve leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 35 years, Vivian Clower Carroll Luzar, whom he married July 9, 1983; his daughter, Lori Bolen of Niles; his son, Stephen R. (Toni) Luzar of Largo, Fla; a stepdaughter, Susan DeMalio of Cadiz; a stepson, Christopher Carroll of Monongahela, Pa; seven grandchildren, Amy Johnson, Cady Bolen, Sarah DeMalio, Lindsay DeMalio, Nicholas Luzar, Joshua Carroll, and Emily Carroll; two great-grandchildren, Nora Johnson and Colton Kaiser, with a third great-grandchild due to arrive in August; a brother, William (Mary Lou) Luzar of Niles; a sister, Eleanor Jonson of West Bloomfield, Mich; several nieces and nephews; and several extended family members. Steve will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A sister, Mary Fredericks and a stepson, John Carroll, preceded Steve in death. Interment with military honors will follow at Girard Union Cemetery.3 He was born on July 16, 1933 at Girard, Trumbull Co., Ohio.3,4,5 He married Vivian M. Clower, daughter of William Phillip "Willie" Clower and Juanita May Caruthers, on July 9, 1983 at Trumbull Co., Ohio.1,2,3 Stephen L.
